Thanks JTP...for the struts I used a plastic tube made to transport blue-prints, drawings, etc. Fun to use: thin plastic, easy to cut/glue (contact cement is my friend lately...for the fumes of course ) I'll have to paint it by hand, since the blue foam reacts with the solvent you'll find in spray-cans. I don't mind the "brushed look" since the landing gear will be heavily weathered.

Joberg ,really nice work and really great attention to detail, Martin Bower must be jealous ! all you have to do now is build all the rest !!!???? joking apart , use an acrylic paint first on the blue foam as a base, then you'll find you can use automotive spray paints on it grey primer or yellow filler spray etc etc the acryllic acts as a protective barrier and stops the solvents melting the foam, you have to hand paint the acryllic, but you can spray away to your hearts content once it's sealed .

Thanks Propsjohnnyb...yes, i forgot to mention that the acrylic will act as a barrier to protect the blue foam from the solvent found in the spray-can.
Also, I'm experimenting with a spray that does not contain solvent...seems to work well on flat surfaces, but not on round ones Confused go figure (tends to be to liquidy and not drying fast).

BTW JB, what are you going to do with this THING once it's all finished ?

Store it on BIG shelves ?

Turn it into a table ?

Turn it into a rotative armchair ?

Offer it to the wife for Mother's day ?

Can't wait to see pics of the thing all painted, must admit...

Fred

Well Fred the "Store it on a BIG shelve" is the option right now...
If I offer it as a gift to the wife, I'm afraid that my days on Propsummit will come to an end real fast .
As I'm trying to tackle a few projects at once I did make some headway during the week-end (I'll post pics soon...it's just that some stuff has to be done first).

Well, I painted it with Krylon H2O (foam loves it) and here it is...I'm doing the doors (will have to paint them) and then that landing gear it's going for the "used look".
Enough blah blah...

That is looking so good joberg! You will have an awesome display here.... This is so cool.

I can see will will next be making the shuttle docked in the hangar with the section of Nostromo bottom hull...If you do that, I will send you a shuttle for it!
