Well this weekend I am making a lot of progress, I finally have the base carved out of craft foam, It holds the model in the upward cant, and little rocky details leading up to the entrances.

This thing will be coated in glass and molded for part of the actual kit.

Around the outside of the base will be detailing like on the outside edge of the space jockey turntable as seen in the movie, so the layout should instantly remind people of whats inside Shocked

So now I am working around the remaining part of the hull, doing the pilot chamber and other arm with detailng.... finally I am seeing an end point here..!!!

I'm coming in a little late here...but your Derelict is just about one of the coolest models I've ever seen.
Something I've always wished was produced....and your attention to detail is incredible!

I can't wait to see this completed!!!

I wonder if the tiny little Astronauts that came with Halcyon Space Jockey would be to scale with the entrance?

Congratulations on the work done so far jtp. That ship has been an endless excuse for daydreaming for me for many years now. It raises a thousand questions.
Cant wait to see your interpretation completed.

Hope they will !

The story will be revolving around the origins of the Space Jockey and how this ship finaly landed on that planet, from what I read about the possible plot...

After 3 days of hard work this holiday weekend, I tackled the hardest part of the master, which was doing the "bridge" (or whatever it is) of this derelict..... a custom sculpted bridge with dome and tons of details, I went all out in doing this part, and really accentuating it. The result is a very foreboding, graceful and slightly fascistic design when I really stand back and look at it.... a very creepy form that only Giger could dream up.

It's enormous! The bridge looks perfect - the whole thing captures that bio-mechanical look, as if the ship were grown rather than constructed.

Thanks John!

I am glad you see the " grown effect" ..that is what I am going for,.... I am hopeful by about the 15th t0 20th of this month, I will be painting this original and the first cast for you in one session together... The molding part is going to be a 2 day project, but I think it is coming along fast now that I have had a weekend to really knock major parts out..... I know Bassnoir is probably about ready to clear a big space in his collection for this beast

95% there now.... Need to finish the port pod, and the hammerhead, and a few details around the radius of the base....

JT, looking at those last pics, I think you've made the cockpit a little too high... the details are great but it looks like the height of the section supporting the dome isn't totaly right...

The rest looks spot on, that's why this "strange" proportion on this part of the model caught my eye...

What do you think ?
