I am glad you are liking it David! I am really surprised in the interest in this thing so far,
This is a pretty unique movie ship, and this project is a lot more involved in detailing than I thought...that is ....when I make details such as lines, conduits..I must pretty much finish even the small ones out..because I have became so accustomed to staring at the pics that it bugs me if something is missing... so I go ahead and add the minute stuff. I guess that is a symptom of obsession HA HA!!!

So I guess about 60% done at this point with about 2-3 weeks left before actually casting it.
I appreciate the patience as this is one huge project..But this will make an awesome model..!

...patience the man says...your work...and for that matter work ethic...are nothing short of astonishing....progress on this could hardly be called incremental....I for one am in no hurry...he typed smiling broadly....
...keep on keep'in on....

Enjoy, guys !!!

Thanks to Freds pictures I reshaped the side-pod and have it roughed in, just a bit more smoothing and adding all the conduits, and I will do a mold to see how this "smooth-on"stuff works. I also will do a slight modification and then detail that weird side port like Fred's pics...

I didn't realize how much detail there was on the surface of the derelict. You're tearing through this one at a rapid pace JT!

Thanks John!

I did not realize how much there was either until I started this crazy project ha ha!!!!
I am detailing the side pod, and I cannot wait to mold it to see how it comes out..then I will cut the tips and mold them. I hope to have the entire hull done this weekend, and move up to the other "arm". You would never guess I have a full time day job! But I stay at home and work on these projects in the evening and weekend all nighters until 4 or 5 in the morning... I love it!!!!!!

Good stuff JT! Same here...cannot wait until I'm retired to start full time on my prop/model making (my day job is making it difficult for me to produce as much stuff as I'd want )

update here... I will be sculpting a base for this model that will be the same form as the small derelict model, but much more raised surface detail as seen in the movie. A gentleman who expressed interest in this suggested it..and he is right..I do not know what I was thinking. I thought there was something missing here..... There needs to be a way so this thing sits with the "horns" pointed up like it crashed or something. So I think a base will make it display correctly. To those who are waiting for their models, this will not take much more time, (an extra day) and will be well worth it. I just completely overlooked this important detail.

...great news Joseph....I have been racking my brain for a suitable display to do your creation justice...I kept looking at the base on the diorama you created for the ....itty bitty Nostromo-Derelict combo you build for me....
...now I know why.....

Looking very spiffy JT! Are you going to run some of the "tubes" from the main body onto the pod, or for molding reason and fit you're going to leave it as is?

HI J, I will probably run a couple more from the body to near the pod, and leave a defined space where people know how to place the pod, but as you see it there is basically the part that will get casted like you see here, with a smooth blank spot for the pod
