I'm working on this for propsjonnyb. I've basically taken all the short clips of the VK display from the scene and cropped/manipulated them into one clip. Also looped and reversed the clips to make it play longer. The text is really just temporary and was lifted straight out the movie.

Here's the latest WIP:
For the main screen:
YouTube - Leon VK main screen

And for the small screens.

One on the left:
YouTube - Small VK screen (left)

And the one on the right:
YouTube - Small VK screen (right)

And here I've overlaid my two screens over the ones in the movie:
YouTube - Both small screens

These clips are typical Youtube compressed Mpeg-4 just for ease of upload and viewing but the final video will be renered in high quality to whatever resolution that's required. Final quality will be much better. I've also watermarked them for now so they are not stolen by anyone unauthorized. The watermark will not be present on the final versions I share with members.

I've also done something similar with Rachel's VK test.

I might also put together the whole Esper sequence for anyone that's planning on making a 'working' machine.

Experimenting with some video effects to improve the text screens.

And tried scaling the eye up to make the footage more varied.

See update in first post.

Kurtyboy, that is fantastic. I love not only the glow but the warped CRT look of the screens. Are you doing the same in regards to the two smaller monitors? I have been building a VK machine as well and these elements will be so crucial once the screens are installed. As usual, great attention to detail!

Nice work! Cool

If I had one criticism it would be that the effect you've put on the text screens is too much. I get the idea but at the moment it looks more like Sky Captain - too old. If it was me I'd tone it down by 50%.

But the only opinions that matter are yours and the client's. Wink

Good stuff Kurtyboy...but I tend to agree with Mike: first text version was much better. As for the "eye section" I don't mind the movement and the static of the screen. Again, I don't know if Propjonnyb is going to opt for one version or it would be possible to choose another? Time will tell.

Awesome.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In addition would it be possible to record someones eye answering all the known questions (Just for fun) and maybe using different lighting to change the pupil so in the VK machine we could have a real long session to view.

Just an idea.

For this I only want to use the real Blade Runner footage. I will make a full session once I know at which time codes John wants the pupil to dilate.

I like what's been done so far, but I found that there wasn't enough , eye footage ( which was shot separately and is all Sean Young BTW ) to match up to the spoken questions , even copying it and repeating segments I thought looked a little false - so that's how I ended up using the sets for the main monitor a lot of different eye segments pasted together - I'll send you a set of the ten separate segments as a master plus a copy of the other two on a SD card , as I like what you did in terms of the interference and CRT dilation, the tenth shot has a dilation and then the 'Ridley Red Eye' flash .

We have to ask ourselves: how sophisticated is the VK? Also, we have to respect the "general look" of the film and the different "Machines-with-screens" spread within the movie. I thought that the second attempt was good: i.e text is steady, eye/movement is a little choppy, end with static.

Why that choice? The text(data) comes from the "disk" inside the machine. The image of the subject's eye comes from the "eye piece/viewer" (live pic) and should be a little choppy as well as the end of the test/transmission should terminate the session with the static on the screen...just my 2 cents Wink

Just for info Jaimeth ,that's what the main monitor displays - ten questions and the filmed eye reactions to each , with a 'special' in the last questions few end frames ,then the video loops back to repeat.

It would be nice to see the dilation and confirmation "Replicant"!! in the video's , Kurtyboy can you copy /extend / repeat the eye sequence, I have an edited soundtrack of the Holden 'Turtle Question' ( just with the pauses and spaces taken out) I think it would go very well, but the eye sequence needs to be long enough to cover the audio track
I'll include the audio on the SD card I'm going to send you , I'm laying that all down tonight.

Joberg's right on the money I think , that's why I went with a number of differing eye shots for the main screen montage. I particularly like having Leon's and Rachel's 'recorded' scans , available to playback as working on the 'operator' instructions I have said they are the only two 'verified' Replicant scans! and they'll be easily stored on the SD card in the main screen and can be selected for individual play using the control provided.

A quick go at the small monitor on the left.

Now if I could just figure out a way to create the animating blob on the other screen...
