Guys, I have been sitting on some info about the new movie for several months now, although I cannot say any details here , there are going to be some pretty incredible things you will see set-wise. I do not know exact plot details of the film because many of the F/X and set, and art department people are not informed about it.. only build what john king says to build.
I am not sure story wise how good it will be, but there will be some breathtaking stuff.. and that is all I can say. _________________ ______________________________________

I plan on seeing it anyway...even if the reviews suck, just on principle because Ridley is back to doing Sci-Fi. I also want him to keep doing it regardless.

"Scott lost his touch a long time ago, and it is pretty obvious just by seeing his casting decision making."
I wouldn't count Ridley out just yet, the man is an accomplished artist and as such, is not always going to be producing a masterpiece every time he helms a production. With all the entertainment he's given me over the years, I still look forward to seeing his offerings as he continues to mature.
One last observation, casting wise. I worked with Charlize Theron on "Monster" and I can tell you she's got amazing talent. I was blown away nearly everyday by her performance and dedication to her craft. She's not a flash in the pan and will continue to amaze given the right scripts. _________________ Hollywood is the only industry, even taking in soup companies, which does not have laboratories for the purpose of experimentation.

I totally agree with you guys !
Really excited to see Sir Scott finally returning to the SF genre, I'm expecting something stimulating for the mind and visually impressive, nothing more nothing less !
(and what if I'm disappointed in the end ? Well, it will never be as crappy as the new Star Wars trilogy or the last Indiana Jones, Ridley has way more class than Darth Lucas)
Fred
PS : and Charlize Theron as way more class than Shia Labeouf !

Yeah...every artist cannot produce a masterpiece every time. Can they produce 2 masterpieces? Maybe. I'm glad Sir Scott is back into the genre as for casting S. Theron (yes, I saw Monsters) I have difficulties accepting her in a Sci-Fi movie (what was the title of that other Sci-Fi movie debacle she was in?)...Sure, I'll go see it like the rest of you guys just because |

While I do appreciate the work going into monitoring this project(s), I've learned my lesson about watching too closely things as they develop. You know how those savvy studios, after over ten years of internet spoiling thier secrets, love to throw in a ton of red herrings!!!
Enjoy the detective work...and let's hope we all enjoy Scott's foray into SF. |

From io9.com
It looks like HR Giger is involved
Quote: | Prometheus
Tipster Reynir Pálsson directed our attention to an interview with Ridley Scott with Gunnþórunn Jónsdóttir of the Icelandic news service mbl.is. More importantly, he provided a hugely helpful translation of what Scott was saying into English, and here are the highlights:
- The article's translated title is "Origins of aliens in Iceland"
- They are filming about 12-15 mins of on screen footage for the film on location near the "Hekla" volcano on the south coast of Iceland.
- The scenes that that are being filmed will be primarily be in the beginning of the film and involve the creation of the world. (It is kinda hard translating the "creation of the world" sentence but it might also imply the creation and/or origin of the Space Jockeys' first engineering attempts...or their homeplanet/home base... kind of vague but the direct translation is "world.")
- Production facilities have been set up near Hekla volcano and it currently has around 200 employees, around 100 of them Icelandic.
- They did look at other locations including the Mojave Desert but ultimately decided that the "rough and pristine" landscape near Hekla was the ideal spot and would suit the location and the atmosphere perfectly.
- H.R Giger has been involved form the start and is working on (translated quote) "... a big piece for me on this film."
- Ridley drops this as well (translated quote): "It will not be a direct link to the Alien movies but around the third act, you will start to see some relations/connections. I could explain to you how this scene plays out but that would be a shame. We go back in time, not forward."
- Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Guy Pierce, Logan Marshall-Green, Kate Dickie and Sean Harris are confimed for the movie and Ridley mentions that Noomi, Charlize, Michael, Idris, and Logan will be on location. |

Naah ... I think there are actually two!
Don't you see it? They're parked front to front; you just don't see the fronts meet, 'cause it's hidden behind this grey screen thing.

The first official image from Prometheus just hit the web...
Alienprequelnews.com is bound to have further info over the next 24 hours, with Fox running a presentation at San Diego ComicCon.

The helmet in the first photo made me instantly think of this storyboard panel by Sir Ridley... Pretty close !
The ship landing gear is rather close to the one seen in ALIEN, but with a Criss Foss vibe... (look at all those parallel markings)
Are you sure the second photo is from PROMETHEUS ??? The suit doesn't look like the one in the first photo... It makes me think instead of a short film with a preganant astronaut I saw on the Web at the time MOON was released...

Positive. It was taken by someone with a cellphone during the clips of the movie they screened during the Comic-Con panel. |
