Thanks for posting that! Never knew Trumbull was involved in Zabriskie Point. And also didn't know about the visual connection with Close Encounters, dreadful as that film was.

Here is the link to get to the photos...
http://douglastrumbull.com/image/tid/22

Also if you rename the links to the pictures by taking out the .preview in the url you can get the full size versions of the pics.

Andy, i tried to remove the .preview in the url but it seems that it doesn't change anything to get the photos in their full size ! Confused

When you open up a picture file with an address that looks like this

http://douglastrumbull.com/sites/default/files/images/crew_color.preview.jpg

Change the address so that it looks like this.

http://douglastrumbull.com/sites/default/files/images/crew_color.jpg

Lots of amazing pictures!

I opened up a new tab and when I opened a photo I would copy its address by right clicking to get the properties. This is using windows of course, it might not work in another browser this way. Then just copy and paste into a new window. Then you can delete the ".preview" part of the address and refresh it. There may be easier ways to do it, because it took me all day to copy about half of the photos. Made for a fun Labor Day Very Happy

Man, all my work for nothing Wink JK...You are truly awesome Nick. Your generosity always astounds me. Thank you very much once again.

For those that haven't explored them all yet. There are some very rare images in there, including the underside of the "lobster" spinner, and a ton of pictures of the spinner model being made. The blimp pictures as well are amazing. Including pics of the billboard ads, and the infamous birth control pill the geisha woman is selling. Some truly great stuff almost up there with the Woldcon pics. Of course they are probably old hat to those that have been collecting these pics and been involved in the production.

Still, It is wonderful to see all these rarely seen images coming to light. I just hope they keep coming, because they keep me excited about this particular hobby. At least until an "Art of Blade Runner" book is made, and all the stuff left off of the DVD-BD anniversary sets finds it way to the public eye.

Oh I'm sure that a ton of unseen material and knowledge is still out there for years to come...with non-disclosure agreement and everything, we'll see from time to time some of the numerous gems that the film contains.
Nick has been sharing some of the continuity pics with us and now with more stuff on Doug Trumbull site the board is busy with anticipation and renewed interest. Smile

You rock Nick !..Thanks very much for the file ! Very Happy
And thanks to you guys too !

By the way, it would be cool to create a thread devoted to BR photos and more particularly rare shots and behind the scenes ones....
A thread where everybody could share BR photos, i'm pretty sure some people such as Nick Daring have little treasures on their hardrive !!

Tell me what you think ?

Phil

It would be fun to have a post dedicated to BR pictures only (official or rare) without going everywhere on the Net...I'm sure there's a lot out-there Shocked Wink...as long as we the permission to do so.

I don't know if we could separate them into themes (exterior/interior shots, pics of cast weapons, props, sets, pre/post- production, vehicules, models/special effects, etc... lot's of work Shocked ) but to have a central library is a good idea. Wink

A bit of sad news here, if I may. The proposed documentary on 2001: A Space Odyssey, has been mysteriously nixed by Warner Home Video. Unbelievable. Apologies for the topic drift.

WHAT!? HOW?! Shocked

Update: apparently the source for this is a clip of Trumbull from July.

At least we still have that book by David Larsen coming out...
