For those who havent seen this yet. As a result of a bunch of bad science movies that they had to post a web site to refute, especially the film 2012, NASA also mentioned films they felt were realistic, including BR at the top of the list along with Gattaca.

Yeah, 2012 was horrible. Just plain silly. Must have been written by a 12 year old. I only got about 1/4 of the way through when I turned it off.

I avoided it like the plague from the commercials alone. I think they should be indited for actually trying to portray bad science and even use it to advertise the film, in such a way they wanted people to believe it. It is a crime of intelligence, and exploits, as well as promotes ignorance. There is a wide chasm between the kind of science fiction that is obvious fantasy and the kind that pretends to based on real science. Still, movies like Star Wars may actually be more realistic than this crap.

The last straw was that they built the arks in such a way that you couldn't engage the engines if the back door was open. A great example of writing it as you go.

The lady & I Netflix'd it. Oh man, the physics were laughable. It was an over-the-top disaster effects movie with an awful plot that was as weak as the science.

I pulled it up on Netflix instant view. Glad I didn't have to wait fora DVD to arrive. It would have been a waste of postage.
