You may have seen these kits around. they're a very poor recast of a recast of what I think was a Rick Ross Magnum. It comes as a single lump of resin with grips and triggers to be attached. It was full of bubbles and pitted areas as well as a lot of misshapen lines.
I decided to have a go at it. The grips are actually pretty good, so I'm saving them for a future project. I wanted to try wood grips again anyway. I replaced the grip frame, butt plate and trigger guard with aluminum. I spring loaded the triggers. I replaced the resin nub in the top barrel and replaced it with a metal nozzle from a spray gun. I then replaced every screw and bolt with metal as well as the over-sized binding post.
It's pretty rough, but not bad, I think, considering how much it had to be filled, sculpted, sanded and carved.

Brilliant job, especially those grips. The Coolmodels recast is from Rick's PKD-1, not the magnum. The upper reciever is the same as the magnum though.

From pumpkin to princess! Very good job at transforming a lump of resin into a very decent gun |
