Hi, guys! Long time lurker, but I have to say that this is one of the most information-rich forums I've ever visited. As a long-time BR fan and collector, I've been slowly accumulating Blasters over the past several years. I currently have one of Rich's pre-Woldcon blasters, a heavily modified Offworld and an all metal Sidkit. I've also just ordered the Tomenosuke piece, which I'm really looking forward to.

I just recently acquired a mint Hartford airsoft for a very (very) good price. I like the machined look of the piece and the weight. However, as you all know, it lacks the accuracy of Rich's prop or the Tomenosuke. What I want to know is if there is a source for accurizing parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Scott

Welcome to Propsummit Scott,

Here is a place that sells upgrade parts for Hartfords in Japan. Unfortunately they are anything but cheap.

http://zospec.com/

Also the Donparker buttplate made for the Offworld will also fit the Hartford. The Offworld was based off of the Hartfords.

Hi Andy,

Till now, I'd thought that nobody ever did an airsoft version of the CA bulldog, but then when I was cruising through the Zospec site I noticed this:

http://zospec.com/blaster/bulldog44/bulldog44.html

If anybody would know about this, you would. What can you tell us?

Thanks,

Jeffrey

I have seen a couple years ago, so the question is: what year and is it/they for sale now.

The way it seems to work also looks old.

Elfin Knights (under the name Ever Smile Co) made a kit to fit the airsoft in 1993. I had talked to someone on theRPF who said it was made very briefly. The kit was the same that was shown in the famous Hobby Japan EX Autumn 1993 article. The first replica version of the gun to be made from the marriage of parts from a Charter Arms bulldog (airsoft) and a Steyr SL. I am not sure who made the airsoft Bulldog, but it is supposedly very rare and valuable now. It was also a .38.

I will see if I can locate the pictures of the article that was posted here many moons ago. If someone can read Japanese they might be able to identify it.

Hi Scott, nice to have you here! I haven't seen many folks change their hartfords. It's a task to do it.

You have a lot of work/mods to do on the hartford, and really, it depends on how far you want to go. Just a new trigger guard? Triggers? Really, almost nothing on the Hartford is accurate to the hero. The base revolver is a different model and caliber, the grips and grip frame are more contoured and the finger grooves a bit deeper, and . . . chrome. Smile

The way they set the forward trigger is unique to their blaster, and isn't even close to what you would do with the offworld, for example, because the bulldog frame is just so different.

Don't get me wrong, I love my hartfords very, very much. They are truly just their own animal.

That is the one, I thought that was a old model....

I remember trying to get a copy...

Hobby Japan was very frustrating, for one you could not tell what was a one-off and what was a short run and what was a large production run.

And what scale was used, some were not 1 : 1.

Darn but they had great stuff.

Welcome Scott!...and good luck with the transformations (you'll need it).
Of course, we'll be waiting impatiently for pics of the whole thing when it's done Wink

Guys - thanks for the warm welcome! I have alread been contacted by Don and will probably add his chrome butt plate to my Hartford. My offworld model C was actually modded by its previous owner (FusedNova) with a Don Parker butt plate, barrel and the new offworld metal slide. Don's stuff is really amazing.

In the coming weeks I'll be completing a build of the all metal pre-Worldcon blaster and (hopefully) taking delivery on a Tomensuke. Once all are complete, my plan is to create shadow boxes and post some pics for ya'll (excuse the slang - I'm Texan).

Thanks again guys and Happy Hunting!

I probably make the closest Blaster model to a firing airsoft , using Rich's kit parts , as I make a firing blaster based on a PFC .38 Police Special that I accurise to be a CA Bulldog first , I then add a .44 CNC steel barrel and all the Coyle kit parts so it looks exactly as the hero prop does externally . As the shrouds cover the drum it is not apparent that the drum cylinder is slight smaller , you can only tell it's a .38 , when the drum chamber is opened to view the bullets , In all other respects it is identical to any other Coyle Blaster.
