I went back to the look of the original un-modified Steyr thumb slide, which doesn't have a screw drilled through it's face to hold it on. The slide is held internally. Much more graceful, IMHO! Again, if you look back at some of my early posts about my design, I was going for a gun that looked as much like a real manufactured weapon as possible, not a replica of the hero prop. _________________ Dave

Here's the finished prototype for the display stand, Three laser cut pieces which interlock, no glue required. The engraving is done in reverse with the CNC router. Under the right lighting it "light pipes", almost looks like neon!
I'm not sure yet what the price will be, depends on how many I make.

Thanks, Dave. Now I'm wondering why they ever put a screw through the switch on the Hero blaster ... |

The one on the Steyr goes down in through the stock, and is part of a much larger piece. It would interfere with the cylinder if it was whole. I think they had to pretty much cut it off and attach it directly to the receiver as a simple solution. I like Dave's solution better myself, and agree it makes the gun much cleaner. I kind of wish the screws on the Grips were gone too (or moved to a less fragile location).
Still this thing is a masterpiece, and it has been great seeing it develop here from the from it's inception. Outstanding work from start to finish, and from top to bottom.

***Pic Heavy**** I present to you my new BR snubbie. I decided to go with a black finish and gave it some slight holster wear. Big thanks to DaveG. What an awesome kit! It was so much fun to build.

Just a little update... there are still a few kits from the first run available. Some of the molds have broken down so I'll need to make new molds in order to do another run of kits. But I won't have the time to do this until after the first of the year. This is by way of saying, if you were thinking of the Snubby as the perfect Christmas gift for the Blade Runner fan in your life (or yourself), don't delay!
Another note about the next run, the clip holder and clip are likely to be molded in one piece. The double set of three part molds was just way too time consuming to redo again. This will mean no removable clip for LED conversion. So if you were thinking about adding electronics a first run kit is the only practical option. _________________ Dave

any progress on the acrylic stands. My snubbie is currently laying on its side in my display case feeling neglected. All my other blasters make fun of "the little guy" _________________

That "Little Guy" can kick their a...
oops, sorry!
I made a half dozen of the stands but when I inspected them closely, they all had some scratches since the plex had be stored without the masking paper on one side. I have been too busy to pick up a new sheet of plex. It's on the "to do" list! _________________ Dave

Hi Dave, can you email me info about the kit or the next run if you're sold out?
Thanks, Eric |

I am down to my last two snub nose kits from the first run. When these are gone... I will make more, but I don't know when. And these are definitely the last to have the removable ammo clip. So if you've been on the fence about getting one... _________________ Dave

I doesn't look like the stands are going to happen, at least not for a while. No progress on new models. Too many other things to do! _________________ Dave
