Space Jockey:
Well, but getting your name out there can't hurt. I remember some of the Star Wars and Star Trek blueprinters who started with fan pubs then produced enough quality material to be able to negotiate themselves into productive SF illustration careers.
Your quality is AMAZING and your devotion to detail also. You could spend the next ten years blueprinting ALIEN, much less ALIENS (yes, I've been watching your Sulaco progress ). I continue to think about the interior Nostromo 'print and have begun catalogueing references in the film and novelization.
The books look to be of high quality and including your work in it, even if paid only by being allow to contribute, is worth being proud of.
[Lest you think I'm getting maudlin, I'm really just brown-nosing for a free Sulaco 'print when it's done. Bwah-hahahahahahahahaha!]
Sincerely,
FenGiddel86 |

Ha, I wish! Sadly I don't get paid for my contribution, and probably alot of the other contributers don't either.
Nice to be a part of it, though. |
Damn publishing companies ! Didn't they even offered a little something, like a lunch with the author or even some of the books already in their catalog ???
(I hate when there's a fly on the wedding cake...)

FenGiddel Thank you! Appreciated.
I'm not bitter about this whatsoever; I'm really chuffed they are in the book. When I first finshed the print, I did try to get them released as a licensed poster and approached Acme Archives.
However at the time I was told that unfortunately it wouldn't be taken on as more people are interested in the actual Alien itself. And by the way if I do any Star Wars prints to contact them.
So I did them myself as a limited and affordable run as you know. But with it being limited, eventually it comes to an end. But with it being in a book, well it's just nice. And when I get an email from someone saying how good the print looks on their wall, or how pleased someone was that they got it as a present, well, that's just a nice feeling to have.
Right now I'm amending some things on Sulaco (the very back of the ship) thanks to new photos being available on blu-ray so that is shaping up well. Sometimes it's best to wait and not rush it as new info becomes available and one does a better job. |

You are so right about waiting! I remember back in 1996 when another ALIEN fan scanned for me the Halcyon model kit sheet, from which I rather primatively cobbled together the 5-views and deck plans.
Here we are in 2011 and you've released a set in 2010 and are working on more.
Plus, an authoritative book is being published.
I no longer fret about finding ALIEN material, since new stuff could be just...around...the corner
...or is that the Alien?

This is a must get for sure. So when are they going to do one of these for Blade Runner?

Yeah Andy...when are they gonna do one for BR? Maybe we should ask Space Jockey since he knows the publisher? |
