Hi folks, like to say a hello to you all and that I'm quite pleased with myself at finding this forum.
So I've been a colossal Blade Runner fan since I first saw the film on VHS many moons ago (Although now the proud owner of the Final Cut on bluray), and have been hankering for a blaster of my very own for a few years now.
I guess basically I'm looking for information about obtaining a decently made blaster here in the UK. I've been browsing around, and I am aware of the various kits that have been produced over the years, although most now seem out of production, or near impossible to import to the UK.
I have also seen a solid white resin kit sold by Frontier Models here in the UK, although to be honest it looks gash, and I would prefer one with perhaps a working action and/or metal parts.
I guess fundamentally I have a budget of upto £250 - £300 max, although I am not without some modelling skill, and have considered scratch building one from an airsoft revolver and various bits & bobs, along with amber resin for the grips etc.
So any UK guys here who have been in the same boat? Is there a UK distributor for some of the better kits out there?
Cheers! |

Thanks Rich, that's definitely one very very good looking kit!
$195 is very reasonable for the plastic kit, I'll send propsjonnyb a PM with some queries. |

Welcome aboard Clarkie...as you can see the diffs between that FrontierModel gun (good enough for Cosplay imo) and Rich plastic replica...way much better quality with Rich for sure. Eager to see what you'll do with it |

Welcome aboard mate.
I was in the same position as you! It's a long old road, but you'll get there in the end!
I would recommend, joining the list for Rich's world con plastic blaster.
As well as keeping an eye out for something in the prop shop thread.
There is a chap selling an offworld for around £170 at the moment, needs a little work imo, but if your a dab hand at that sort of thing, it mat be just what your looking for! |

Welcome to the propsummit!
Yes, we in the UK have it tough!!
I have been importing various blaster parts for many years in order to buildi the ultimate BR prop for some time now. I have had quite a few run-ins with the UK couriers and customs and the bottom line is (and I quote from the International couriers themselves) "we don't care if it's made of jelly, if it's gun shaped, we don't ship it!!"
The best thing to do is get buy a kit or parts thereof, and build it once you get hold of it.
Good luck and if you plan things well......anything can be acheived! |
