The CED's look pretty close, but still no exact match. Maybe it is a professional model or something. Or another rebrand of the RCA/Zenith. It does almost look like the one shown on set (or the "Fake" one), has a logo on the upper left side that kind of looks like Sony or Sanyo. Maybe it is a Sony Laser Disc player. Sanyo did make CED players too though. The design is simple enough it could be just a coincidence that they have a similar layout, but still I think we are on the right track.

According to the main CED website only four companies made CED machines. "Hitachi, RCA, Sanyo, and Toshiba. All the other name brands are clones with styling or feature changes."

No idea if this helps.

Yep, that is why I thought if it said "Sony" it couldn't be a CED player, but "Sanyo" is pretty close. The Sanyo players don't look anything like it though.

There was also a format called Discovision. Basically an early Laserdisc I think. Found a few players but not nearly as many as the CED.

From a site:

"The LaserDisc (LD) was a home video disc format, and was the first commercial optical disc storage medium. Initially marketed as Discovision in 1978, the technology was licensed and sold as Reflective Optical Videodisc, Laser Videodisc, Laservision, Disco-Vision, DiscoVision, and MCA DiscoVision until Pioneer Electronics purchased the majority stake in the format and marketed it as LaserDisc in 1983."

I also remember some other large format disc player/recorders that were very short lived. There was a large floppy disc that I remember too, that we used in a computer lab I worked at. Also I remember a recordable Laser Disc player. They never seemed to catch on and the advent of DVD killed LD.
