Well, Brett wears his own style so Parker is the only engineer using company issued clothing - and think about it, engineers are gonna get dirty real quick, and therefore more likely to change clothing more often....oil, grease, beer Smile

Officers upstairs have a relatively clean existence, so they're probably going to wear their clothes for a lot longer, resulting in that 'worn in dirty yellow' look =]

You know the thing that gets me about the shirts (not just the ones for sale, but the other replicas I see), is the fact that apart from Parker's, they're not really white at all.

Look at the scene where Lambert tells the crew they have 10 months till Earth - Dallas's shirt is VERY off white.

I've kinda always gone with this approach with my own versions of the shirts and so soak them in hot water with 4 or 5 teabags first LOL. It works surprisingly well!

Brownclaw I've always felt the same concerning the crews shirts, I have a vintage 70's short sleeve shirt in the same cream, the costumes all seem to use the pastel colours that were popular around the mid to late 1970's.

Check out the pictures of Dallas's screen used shirt in the "Nostromo crew jacket" thread! half way down the page, the material used for these shirts by Nathan and Berman appears to be a heavy duty natural linen or cotton? and the creamy yellow is very apparent!
Ash and Bretts, clothing use "seafoam" green! and flight officers Ripley, Kane, Lambert and Dallas use that natural creamy yellow, on shirts and tee's, all trimmed in another favourite of the day, pastel pink!
Parkers appears to be the only white shirt there? Possibly another uniform division between the bridge officers and grease monkeys in the ships bowels? mind you its ironic that Weylan Yutani allocate the whitest shirt to someone who works in the dirtiest part of the Nostromo!

I have a couple of yards of the pink piping spare if anyone is interested - i oversourced a fair bit of it from the USA so would be willing to send enough for a collar and pocket etc for postage cost only - PM me if you fancy a yard or two Smile

Here's how it looks on a shirt - I used Patch Attach to fix it but I reckon it'll also benefit someone running a sewing machine along it too Smile

Apologies for the poor iPhone pic, and the possible thread hijack.

I would hate to think how often Parker changes his company gear? of course having your shipmates blood sprayed over you a couple of times might force even the dirtiest crew member to change his shirt!

As for Parker being the only one in engineering to wear company issued clothing, what about Brett? he wears company issued pants, undershirt and his "hippari" style nostromo work jacket, he just bends the rules slightly with his non regulation tropical shirt.

I would say the off white worn by the Nostromo flight crew is just another way for a company like Weylan Yutani to enforce subtle crew segregation! a "them and us" attitude prevails among it's company workers? After all Parker is heard to say "Officers" under his breath as he and Brett enter the mess, definitely a derisory comment aimed at the overpaid pampered bridge crew.

Brownclaw & nexus 42--just rewatched the scenes in well-lit parts of the Nostromo-indeed, the Officers' uniforms ARE cream; Parker's uniform is white; Brett's trousers and Ash's uniform are light blue with a VERY slight tinge of green. I THINK Brett's uniform trousers are more blue, than Ash's uniform though.

Well, apparently my pessimism brought me good luck. The Magnoli Nostromo trousers arrived--quality tailoring as his work continues to be.
I'll post pics of pertinent details on the replicas tomorrow evening....
