After seeing The St. Louis Kid's custom Vid-Phon cell phone, I got an itch to try to customize my own ancient cell phone with a new paint job and some BR stickers & graffiti.

As part of my research, I tried to find all the images I could of the Vid-Phons.

When I began to sort and compare the pics, I spotted a phone I don't think was ID'ed before now. After a little more looking for HD caps, I suspect that at least Tyrell Corp noticed it.

Thanks to the HD release, and the RAC photo showing the four phones lined up in a row, I've attempted to ID all the known phones with good reference pics.

I believe there are a minimum of 5 unique phones: the ones in the four-in-a-row photo, and the hero (which, oddly, does not appear in that shot).

Please click here for my reference image.

Bottom row, from left to right:

El Graffito – Mounted on the wall next to the exterior stage door of The Snake Pit. Time: 55:19.

The Hero (called No. 1 by The Vid-Phon Report) – This is the phone inside The Snake Pit that Deckard uses to call Rachel. Time: 50:30.

Backstage – In the backstage hallway inside The Snake Pit, when Deckard is reading his newspaper and waiting for Zhora, there are a row of phones along the wall. These are very difficult to individually identify, due to general blurriness. This single phone is visible just well enough to get a positive ID. Note also the “Out of Order” tape. Time: 52:23.

The “Sub” (called No. 3 by The Vid-Phon Report) – This phone is visible behind Deckard when he calls Rachel from The Snake Pit. This is the phone documented in “The Vid-Phon Report,” by Masakazu Takeda, published in Japan in June of 2004. Time: 50:30.

This still leaves the “?” phone as yet unaccounted for, and other phones in the film without positive IDs.

If you have any information about the Phons, the graffiti stickers, or such, please share :)

Whitefall has files so you can make the payphone. His stuff makes it so you can do the whole front. He also has the various stickers. Both new and used/dirty version of the phone booth and stickers. Then you just have to build the shell. The plans are around here somewhere. I picked up a Vintage TV with correct size screen so mine will have a real TV screen.

Someone was playing with the idea of using a computer with a similar size screen so they could use Skype with it.
