If you guys notice that some of the threads in this section are missing. I have been moving many of them over to the more appropriate section. New threads I am leaving a shadow here for, but ones over a month old, I am just moving over.

The "Worldcon Blaster Information" thread is just the "Blade Runner Blaster" thread now, so all Blaster related threads are being moved over there. I have not done it with all the threads yet, and am also holding back moving over threads on Leon's and other weapons too.

I have also moved over some costuming stuff as well. We may bay re-titling the "Studio Scale" section for just general scale models and figures, so any props that are not 1:1 will probably go over there.

Hopefully this should get us better organized so everybody can find specific information easier when looking for it.

We of course are open to all ideas if anybody else has any. Please let us know what you all think.

That's great news Andy ! (Spring cleaning rules !)

BTW, could you please do the same on the A L I E N section, we for example still have shadows of "Scale Modeling" or "Sequel Props" threads in the "Alien props" section !

Shocked

Many thanks in advance !

Fred

PS : A request, also...

Would it be possible to add a "threads started by XXX" on each profile ? (basicaly same thing as the "all posts by XXX"... I must admit it would make the search for ancient threads easier in certain cases, at least for me...)

What do you think ?

Sounds like an interesting Idea. I am not sure if it can be done or not, hopefully Amish can pipe in about it.

I would love to hear more ideas, so please keep them coming. I really want this place to be a resource for all people interested in Blade Runner, ALIEN, and other more "serious" Science Fiction. What do you guys think of a section just for Blade Runner original art, and BR collecting? All ideas and comments welcome.

We'll see... Yep, Amish is the Man when it's about the technical side of things here !

Galleries sound like a good idea imho...

1- Public collection gallery of photos for each member ?
2- Gallery of production material ? (drawings, blueprints, studio photos, BTS photos)
3- A "propsummit museum / Hall of fame" where we could link our best threads, ongoing or dead ? (they wouldn't be moved from they original sections, just duplicated in this "Museum section" where we could find the best resource info)
I submit this idea because most of the time newcomers start new threads about topics already discussed many times, but I think they do so because they don't know where to look for the essential stuff ! (must admit I had hard times myself finding old topics on the board, even with the "Search" option...

Then we totaly agree on the true purpose of this place !

As always the adjustments to the site are sincerely appreciated gentlemen!

I like the idea of a section for Collections because I know that some members have the most astonishing collections imaginable.

Art is one close to my heart so I can't be objective on that one..

Personally I'd like to see a more concise thread set on the various blasters. Unfortunately the WorldCon thread has been hammered from every angle but if there is a way to put up RAC , a Sidkit, OffWorld, RickRoss, Tomen etc, etc sections then if it is possible, would it be appropriate to drop in a WorldCon section in under those vendors who have released a WorldCon model? That way the edges don't get blurred.

Maybe a thread dedicated to paper props?

In all honesty I know how much work this all is because changing a web site can be more trauma than moving house so whatever is possible would be more than we deserve…!!

Kind regards and many thanks as always

MARK

Wow, some great stuff Smile Also, I have to yield to Andy, he is the man

I will take a look at the technical changes that you are asking for when searching. Let me see what is available to make this type of change. Since it does not have any negative or huge impact on anything, I think it is a fine idea

I have done some research on galleries and will have to dive into it again. It might be time to pull the trigger on phpbb v. 3. Though, I admit I am a little scared of a big upgrade. Just being honest, kind of a if it isn't broke.......... why break it...lol

Thank you Andy for taking the bull by the horns and moving the threads! You rock!!!!

I am also looking at combing the propshop and buyer/seller feedback into its own subforum for shopping. I would combine the buyer and seller feedback sections and leave the propshop alone, but seperate them into their own section.

Any thoughts? I figure it is worth opening up to all for discussion.

WOW! I really took this off topic Wink

Thanks to everyone here!

Tom

Keep the ideas coming. I have pretty gone through and separated the majority of the Blaster related threads. I may need to do another pass or two still to make sure I didn't miss any. It seems to have done what I had hoped and evenly distributed the topics. It should make it easier to find stuff now. I would like to ask for everones help when they might see a thread they think is in the wrong topic section, to flag it by posting in it for us so we can check it out and move it if we need to. I may go through and see if any are particularly meaningless too and need to be deleated all together, but with the better organization it will hopefully be less daunting to undertake.

After we get more suggestions, I am also going to look at some of our threads and see if there are needs to split off some of them more, because they not fitting in well or, just getting too many posts to fill up threads. I am also going to look some more into rewording to help with clarification for each topics focus. I may draw up some new maps of the site to see what we all think too.

I have a review thread that I was testing out that I might also at least get some polls started so we all could post in them. They would be focused on the Blasters in particular, and would be a place where people could post photos of each blaster version, as well as rate the blasters on different characteristics.

Ditto !

Again, thank you mates for your hard (and often invisible to our eyes) work, it's really great to have you as guides and admin !

Cool

I throw other ideas, just in case :

1- An "OFFWORLD COLONIES" section devoted to films such as 2001, Outland, MOON, Silent Running, etc... Anything that connects to the idea of the Offworld colonies in Blade Runner.

2- A "DYSTOPIAN REALITIES" section devoted to films like Soylent Green, Mad Max, Children of Men, THX 1138, Minority Report, Demolition Man, etc...

3- A new (or a few, changing) skin for the Home page ???
I must say that I really LOVE Joan / jfuste's idea of a photo + catch phrase on his Home page. (I woudn't change the dark background on propsummit though, I 100% love it)

That's all for now...

Kudos to all who run the Propsummit Forum. It is the most informative and civil forum I have encountered on the Net, and now it appears it is going to get even better. Very Happy

Fred those titles are great, and I could see them fitting in quite well in this place. Of course we could also co-opt the term "Future Noir" for films like Dark City, the Matrix, Metropolis, Alphaville, and Minority Report. Still I love the idea of talking about the classics. I don't see too many other places willing to talk about the cult versions of these films to any great extent.

Thanks Andy, glad to see you like these titles !

Oh yes, a "Future Noir" section would be very cool also !!!

Can't wait to talk (and learn) about all these great films !!!

Another chime here...glad to see all that work being done by the Admin. (always behind the scene but never forgotten).
Seems that a few of our members have already proposed quite a few good ideas; I'm fine with the ones proposed by them (I also think that the home page should be somewhat modified to a new design. The colour of the background, as Fred said, should remain the same Wink )

It's true that putting all the little topics of discussion about a common item (let's say Deckard's weapon) together is a good idea and keeps us, not only from being redundant, but also makes our research on the board a pain-free experience.

Thanks in advance to Amish and Andy Cool

Thanks for the bump. It seems some of the stuff got changed, but not all of it. Not sure if amish decided against the changes or missed a couple. Still I would like to see some more input anyway. I have a feeling unless I start to present some new ideas though we might not actually get a whole lot of feedback as often seems to be the case. Wink So if I can think of some new ideas I will post them here as soon as I can.

Thanks all.

You should maybe rename this topic like this :

BLASTER BLASTER BLASTER (Forum spring cleaning) BLASTER BLASTER BLASTER

Then you would have plenty of feedback from the boys...

LOL Laughing ..yeah maybe that too.

I will start with a few ideas though...
-I still want the "studio scale" section changed to "scale modeling", since there is vertually no Studio Scale stuff being done from the movie. Randy Coopers spinner model is smaller than the studio model, as is Roboterkampf's blimp. Yet, there is a ton of 1:6 scale stuff being done, including stuff from Japan, and also because of Ben's apartment and animation project.
-I like the idea of having an "Offworlds and Dystopias" section. We could add in the Children of Men, and Outland stuff into it as well as stuff like 2001, A Clockwork Orange, Brazil, Dark City, The Matrix, 5th Eliment, City of Lost Children, Delecatessen, and other movies that have related themes to BR. It would allow us to discuss stuff other than just the props from those movies too, as you have been doing in the coffee shop Fred.
-A paper prop section, or even an image archive section for all the stuff we use regularly in our research.
-Perhaps a collectors corner for those who collect BR trinkets such as myself.
-An original Art section, for stuff made by members here, as well as stuff we find online at other sites and such.

Just to name a few ideas. I would just like to make this place a full on resource, and make it easier for people to find stuff as well as narrow their searches.

Great work Andy. The changes sound good to me, especially the "Offworlds and Dystopias" section.

The Scale modelling title is a better title as it better covers the current stuff being done.
