OK so If anyone cares, here is what my blaster rounds are made from:

Spent .44 mag casings. These are aluminum. You can obv get spent casings a number of ways, but this is where I got mine (I can't buy live rounds in NY so this was probably the safest route):
http://www.etsy.com/listing/91184224/44-magnum-shells-for-your-art?ga_search_query=bullets&ga_search_type=user_shop_ttt_id_5184202

Shotshell reload capsules. These are made to load birdshot into handgun shells. Like mini shotgun shells. They can be bought live and ready to fire, but that would be more pain than help since we want to replace the contents:

And finally 5mm LEDs. These can also be bought a number of places:

Other than that is was just a matter of finding some plastic tubing that was a good size for a spacer between the LED and the capsule, and mixing up some epoxy putty. The putty helps add a bit of weight to the bullets too, which makes them feel more "realistic".

The finished gun and box!!!

These aren't the best pictures, but all I've got is my cell phone. It actually looks even cooler in person!

(Ok I haven't wired the LEDs in Rich's clip yet, but otherwise it's done! Until I can find an aluminum butt plate and a wired sight rod that is...)

I'm sure I speak for everyone here: better pics would be great, but in the mean time I'm drooling all over my keyboard Shocked Love the box, the inside of the box, the gun inside the inside of the box

It's fun to see your version (I had to go back for a search for Staar's)...amazing artists on this board for sure and a pleasure to see the variations being done on the same theme Cool

Yeah, the idea is that he took it through customs once, and that tape was put on there after they inspected it for transport. It also has a cigar box tariff sticker kind of vibe as well.

The bottom of the box is cut a bit crooked at the back, so I may end up replacing that panel, but overall I am really happy with how it turned out. The amber shellac gives the wood an over polished aged look almost immediately.

I have been collecting some old boxes myself to do something like this too. You certainly captured the look of some of the antique gun cases I saw at auctions. Thank you for sharing the process too.
