Hi all!
Recently I got a PKD Snub kit from Rick, and I just wanted to show some pics now that it's done. Smile
This was a fun kit to build! I had some problems initially with paint adhesion, but I think I didn't wash the parts well enough when I started. Embarassed But after being a little more thorough, everything worked out great.

Here it is next to my Coyle v.4x to show the size difference. After handling the Snub for a few days, the full-size PKD looks and feels like a cannon! Laughing

Below are a couple of shots of each side. I went with a paint scheme that is similar to the "Worldcon" colors. I used black for the "plastic" sideplates and ammo clip, and Testors metalizers for the body of the gun. I used Stainless Steel for the lower frame, Magnesium for the barrel, and Titanium for the upper section. After polishing the metalizer, I added a mist coat of Testors Dullcote to give it more of a matte look. I didn't want this one to be obviously "weathered," but have more of a very slightly worn in-service appearance.

A couple more close up shots in my photobucket album here:

I'm building a new display case that will house both blasters. I'll put up a pic when I'm done.

Thanks for looking!
Eric

I like the titanium/magnesium look. Matte finish did the trick. Gonna have to add those colors to my paint supply.

Thanks all!
Rick, thanks for making such a cool kit. Very Happy

Here's a couple shots of the display. This is pretty much like the display I had made previously for my Coyle blaster. It's a shadow box I got from Michael's, with some craft paper laid over the original backing, which was black.
I usually go for metallic backgrounds for my displays, which are usually Star Wars blasters, but I found this shade of brown and liked it because it kind of reminds me of Deckard's trenchcoat.
I hand cut some short lengths of acrylic rod and drilled them on one end to accept some miniature machine screws. I marked the position and drilled through the backing board and screwed them in from the back.
Man, glass is hard to photograph! Laughing

Oh, and the Boyards are made from the artwork posted on another thread here!

Once-bitten,
Just so you know, the triggers DO NOT work on this model!

LOL! That is a fantastic build Rick really did a great job with these kits!!!

Also, the Titanium is a great color for the upper part.

Thank you for sharing!

Yeah, I covered everything with Rick and he also reminded me that his Snubbie is NOT movie accurate....which I thought was kinda funny cuz we don't even see a snubbie in the movie to the best of my knowledge. I got his point though.
I was a little worried that he might not even do business with me after reading my review and seeing my new avatar, but he's a really straight forward guy and didn't seem to have any hesitation whatsoever!
He said my kit should be in the mail to me this week AND he will give me up-dates as well as let me know when it ships!

Seriously, you should have no worries with Rick. He is a great guy and a wonderful person to have in this hobby.

Keep us updated when you start building. Nothing beats a great build-up thread! Well, maybe a great discovery thread...lol

I like your display case, it looks quite nice.

Lots of good ideas in this thread for paint schemes and display options.
