He had a long and very satisfying life. And his influence was wide. He was also a great character. Hearing him tell his Mr. Electro story was (forgive me here) electrifying, even though he told it thousand's of times.

I continue to enjoy the film version of Fahrenheit 451 by François Truffaut.

First Forry Ackerman and now Ray Bradbury. A generation has passed.

I did my High School term paper on Ray Bradbury and wrote to him way back when. The letter I got back I showed in class and it was stolen because the teacher put it on the bulletin board for everyone to read for the day and it disappeared. He really was the least "Science" of science fiction writers that was also a true artist. I loved the Martian Chronicles, and remember loving Truffaut's Fahrenheit 451, as well as many of the other movies based on his books. I think I forgave my teacher, but I am feeling much less forgiving now...at least of me for not writing him again.

The one thing I remember about his letter was that I asked him why he didn't like to travel, and he said he did. That he also loved public transportation, and people watching. He also said he didn't like the drive because his mind would wander all the time, and that wasn't safe to do while driving. He said he did most of his travelling in his mind, and was always daydreaming since in a way it was part of his job. There was a funny sketch I can not remember what it was. It was also IIRC on stationary for the movie Something Wicked This Way comes, which came out around the same time. It was the coolest letter ever, and I hope whomever stole it still has it and some day decides to look me up to return it. Since my last name is so unique it won't be too hard to find me.

One more thing I remembered is that I drew a sketch of him on the back of the envelope I sent. He loved it and I think the sketch he did for me was what he thought I would look like, and it kind of looked like him....lol
