Terrible movie but managed to pull together some visionary moments. Getting all the DVD`s together to put in storage and came across this little 80`s "gem".
It hasn't improved with age but this time noticed a couple of device`s that were way ahead of their time.

THE FLOATER........Mmm.. eighties drones looked cool.

THE TABLET......Now two year olds and younger use them.

GUN AND SMART BULLITS.....A great idea and the name is used today, just poorly realised on screen. The gun is awesome and someone must make them and sell me a set!

i have a soft spot for this film. HORRID yes, but hell, it was sci-fi and at my age we loved everything that came out in 1985. ESPECIALLY if space boobs provided by Ms Adrienne Barbeau were a possibility.

Definitely.

If Im not mistaken, Ms Barbeau`s boobs was also ahead of their time. Wink

Still cant get over seeing drones and internet tablets nearly twenty five years before they entered the wider culture. Crichton was special.

Well à propos Tim, today the World Wide Web is 20 years old and seeing those pics (my God, I'm getting old Crying or Very sad ) is frankly freaky (if I can use that term)...and I will not comment on Adrienne, she was a fantasy of mine and since it's a kid show

Quite right J but I didn't think the kids would get décolletage. Very Happy

Freaky is what I`m thinking as well mate, I mean not only is it a portable computer its a tablet style one that has WIRELESS internet! What the Heck?
Also the first tablet with a CRT as a display device. Lol

And the remotely controlled flying camera, really? Im sure the military weren't even thinking of that stuff back then.

Guns that shoot smart bullets around corners? Cmon!

This stuff kinda makes Star Trek`s claim of forecasting the flip top phone look a little lame. Wink and Im wondering why only now this stuff has had an impact on me and not back in the day.

Love your use of the French word décolletage mate Wink and as you said, none of those ideas at the time rang a bell, since they weren`t into society at the time. I'm sure that a section of the military is looking at movies to see what's being imagined by prop makers (and writers).

Thinking about a replica smart bullet and I`m assuming that they either dressed up a 50 Cal dummy slug or had them machined. Have found a few good candidates online that are all under $20.
Some filling, sanding, new finish and some fins should produce a good result.

Yes, that's a great base already! Eager to see what you'll come up with next for that one

I loved the film. I was 12 when it came out, and I think I saw it on VHS the first time, but it's been a favorite since I was a kid.

The film had a definite eye on what was to come. From the gear the cops wore, to the big brother aspect, to computers being in and effecting our every day lives.

I was just a little older and went to the flicks mainly to see Gene but never missed a sci fi release anyway. Knowing your partial to the odd movie firearm,
have you ever come across any replicas of the smart gun Noeland?

To my knowledge Matsuo is the only person who's ever created a replica, and he did that several years back.

I think I've seen him offer one offs from old cast parts a few times though.
