God, I love how those household bits & pieces turn into complete eye candy.
Great work!

Hello! I just came across this interesting website concerning the space station's size. You probably know it already anyway, but just in case...

http://www.planet3earth.co.uk/2001%20page%203.htm

Cheers!

joberg, it's incredible the way the lighting makes all that detail work pop into scale! You've got your hands full but it'll be a beaut if you continue the way you're going.

Thanks mate...here's another pic showing (badly) the rings around the spokes ( 6 to go). Since it's summer, I'm biking more than building the Station, but it's being worked on, albeit at a slower pace Wink

Well, after much work (swearing ) I built a base for the space station.
Now, it turns and it's free standing.

The rod goes almost all the way into the model (50") and the whole base will be painted in black of course.

Much more to come of course, albeit at a slow pace Wink

Thanks guys for the feed-back...since it's a huge model with a lot of greeblies (they had to dress that model on all sides, since it was turning all the time Crying or Very sad ) I'm slowly finishing the first cone (details and everything) and then, I'll build the second one.
When that's done, I'll do the tube connecting the 2 modules...and when everything is said and done, I'll ship it to England, find the two gas towers and throw the model in a grass field...kidding of course Laughing

Great work joberg!
Let me know when you’re dropping it off and I'll be there to rescue it and give it a good home. Very Happy

Very Happy as you've seen the original pics, the station had been stripped of many of its greeblies before being dumped in the field Crying or Very sad It seems that the main outer ring was left somewhat whole.

I'm sure that, when this model is done, it'll stay with me forever Wink
Btw, if you check Taschen .com, you'll see the YouTube vid of the famous 4 books of behind the scene published ($750)!

Well, here it is again; the cone section of one module is done and painted.
I'll have to wait a bit before doing the weathering (a few pieces to add on)
Now onto the next module

Thanks Starrigger! I just added the "ladders" on the module and I'm starting to put the "air units" on the spokes (8 per spoke, 8 spokes, 8X8=64 air units to affix) Very Happy ; as you can see, that station keeps on giving!
