I can't understand why they wound up with such a strange mix of dead-on accuracy and not-in-the-ballpark.

I've been looking into this game since it first became a rumor, and they went to a great deal of expense and trouble to get it right.

They talked Fox into giving them access to a terabyte's worth of original soundtracks, audio effects, still and video from the cast and sets, yet they made some obvious and unnecessary changes that were never part of the original nostromo bridge....go figure Confused

Some art for the game by artist Brad Wright can be found here.... note that are likely spoilers present if you are playing it.

On the ship designs it's interesting how he blends a mix of the design seen on Nostromo with that of the Prometheus. Looks real nice, I like it.

Yeah, it is strange. Maybe it's down to budget, time, having to use parts found in the main game itself for the Nostromo DLC; it's great to walk round, but for fanatics like us rather than casual gamers, stuff like the Bridge viewports looking different, the alcove seating area in the Galley being 'mirrored' (screens are shown on the left rather than the right) do tend to stick out for us.

I played and completed 'Crew Expendable' last night, got half way through 'Last Survivor' then had to turn it off as it was 3am. :-0
Very enjoyable.

Can licensing require certain levels of accuracy?
As in ok you can go nuts but not all the way.
We reserve that for someone with more money?

The items that are missing or incorrect were small (not really) details that only fans of the original movie would notice....and from what I've heard and read, Fox really opened the archive doors to the devs, so...I won't say it couldn't or wouldn't happen, but it just doesn't feel like that.
Confused

Yeah, some have got the Oculus mode to work on PC somehow. There are some videos of it on YouTube, it does look terrific and adds a whole different dynamic in playing the game. Plus it's funny seeing how terrified the players are. Ba-wa-ha-ha-ha-haaaaa

I finished it a couple of weeks back and I loved it. I was very impressed with how they've captured the look of the Nostromo, in particular the three different aesthetics found on each Deck - A, B, C - and developed it further. But also there are some areas that have a hint of the Prometheus set, some that have hints of stuff from Aliens; Security guys encountered later in the game for instance wear some very basic Colonial Marine armor.

All in all I loved it, I hope Creative Assembly have the chance to build on what they learned on this and do another.

Absolutely blown away by this game., just loving every second of it. Leaving the Nostromo missions until I`ve finished Isolation as a treat.
