|
|
Hi all,
I've been meaning to upgrade my Blade Runner prop display, and could think of nothing more appropriate than the Chinese display cabinet behind Rachel:
Has this ever been identified, or something close found? If not, I might buy a conventional glass cabinet and redo the shelving to match the photo.
Any insight would be appreciated! |

Those are still being made...The model in the movie is fairly easy to find (with or without glass doors). If you have a Chinese furniture store/Import you might hit the jackpot |

Thanks for the tips, guys!
I've done these very searches before, sometimes swapping the words "display cabinet" with "curio," and I get close, but never a match. Guess I'll just have to keep looking. |

Damn, the ones that even approach the style and size of the screen-used curio are all in the $1,000 - $4,000 range.
Looks like I'll be making this myself or commissioning it out to a custom cabinet maker one of these days... |

When you find the right model/design, take lots of pics as to be able to build it later. If you can find a cabinet maker that'll do that piece of furniture for a $ 1000 you'll be lucky |

If I have to pay $1,000 or more for a "close to" cabinet, I might as well spend that money on one that's screen-accurate. I'll see if I can use Sketchup to design it. |
