I gave this a wide berth when it came out coz I`m just not that into the Marvel stuff so after picking up the 3D disc last week was utterly blown away.
One of the all time great Hollywood productions.

After around the sixth or seventh viewing, wanted to have a few replicas that would make me smile every time I looked at them. Have nailed it down to four items,
the tape, the ship`s tape deck, the troll doll and Star lords blaster. Found a screen accurate replica of the tape on ebay pretty much straight away which
started the thinking on the tape deck and found an awesome papercraft project online here,

http://davesgeekyideas.com/2014/08/14/guardians-of-the-galaxy-cassette-player-papercraft/

Modified it a little by spraying the whole thing Aluminium and adding some more bits of cut card and cable to the front. Pretty happy with how it turned out.
The tape is part of the paper craft. Going with a sectional cut of the ships tape deck and surrounds, have found the decals and ALF puffy stickers online.
Just need to find a suitable piece of timber with a similar grain.

Just need to add a couple of tape spindles and the real tape to finish it off.

THE TROLL DOLL

Couldn't find any info on this at all online so went on an old school Blade Runner style ebay hunt for answers and an accurate doll. At least 700 plus viewings of friggin troll
dolls coughed up a result. Until they arrive and I can confirm it the screen used doll was a 4.5 inch 1986 DAM. The rare one with a "half" smile and the outfit comes
from a 5 inch DAM. Out of all the searching could only find one 4.5 doll with the correct facial expression and one correct outfit.
The green straps on the outfit is part of a backpack. More to come.

Thanks guys. I had the exact same Walkman back in the day Anders and kept it pristine till I handed it over to my nephew when the Discman was released, big mistake.
If you do get one, your going to pay top dollar anyway so make sure its flawless. Great piece of tech.

Just waiting on a blaster and the collections complete. Big thanks to Dave at davesgeekyideas.com for his awesome paper craft tape deck, it inspired the whole sectional display.

Very nice. I am on the troll hunt now, I got two sorta like you did. One with the outfit and one with orange hair, but I failed to recognize the half smile and while the orange troll I got is close...... It aint close enough lol

I think i got the correct one on its way but the whole 4.5 and 5 is strange. this one was a 5 but measures closer to 4.5
Kinda hard when the sellers dont actually know and I am no troll expert yet haha

They will look cool in the mancave when its all set up. now if I can talk her into the 3d printer this month I will be stoked. maybe we could make the knobs with it and cast them in resin. spray them to look like aluminum. Most knobs now are plastic with a fake chrome plating.

Ok so the one on the right with the purple/blue hair I bought because he had the cloths and the backpack.
I bought the one in the middle because I thought at the time it was correct but as you can see its not.
The one on the left is the correct one but the hair color is making me wonder. I have made props from movies before and been able to see the originals just to find out the color is off on mine since I went by the movie and they color grade which can change things a bit, so the hair may be right....

If you can find a seller on places like etsy that deal in selling these you could ask them as they are pretty common, they may have one they simply have not listed yet. 1986 DAM Troll Backpacker or Hitch hiker

Better Picture

Just bought this Robo3d to mess around with, anyone good at 3d file making?
Like blender or some 3d program maybe we could get some knob designs printed and cast them in resin.

I went ahead today and picked up three boxes of printing filament in ABS and PLA. the printer should be here next week, pretty stoked to play around with it. If I can get the thing printing nice I have the Star Lord Helmet file I want to try too.
