|

Greetings,
I've recently started the process of constructing a Rick Deckard costume for DragonCon. I Purchased a Kogyo Blaster from Hobby Link Japan Last week:
http://www.hlj.com/product/DAK37167
(looks like they just discontinued them today) despite reviews saying they come warped, I figured it was the least expensive option, and after a good paint job it'll serve well for a cosplay.
Currently I'm looking for a jacket. I found a reasonably priced tailor made selection on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Blade-Runner-Rick-Deckard-Trench-Coat-Costume-Tailored-/281370372873?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4182fb2b09
But I've seen units produced by propsummit members that look superior. I was hoping to get some solid advice, and direction here to achieve the best wardrobe for the lowest expense.

Welcome to Propsummit Phil The best coat is by Abbyshot (the one on Ebay will do the trick if you don't want to spend too much).
Jacket is not done by members here (if my memory serves me well) but rather by Indy Magnoli on the RPF (you can find him on FaceBook at MagnoliClothiers).
Have fun and don't be shy by showing us pics of your project |

Talked to Abbyshot not that long ago... They ran out of fabric for the coat! Don't now if it's permanent or just for the moment.. Worth sending them an email
EDIT: Indy does the tie as well.... _________________ Monsieur, azonnal kövessen engem bitte |

I've seen some images of a coat made by a user named Rachel. It appears her online store is no longer active, but I very much liked her work. Anyone know if she is still producing props, and what her price range is? (before I shoot her an unsolicited PM) |

Rachael is MIA for quite a few years now and is no longer doing anything in terms of BR related stuff (it's a long story that doesn't end well, but that's for another topic )...nuff said. |

Magnoli is way outside of my price range for sure. What's really sold me on the eBay unit is how they'll taylor it to your measurements. Especially with trench coats, having it form fit can be the difference between looking like a detective vs. a stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking Nerfherder. |

I would love to see some close ups of the detail and fabric on the eBay-coats...
Too bad there's no eBay version of the red/green western shirt, it's my favorite _________________ Monsieur, azonnal kövessen engem bitte |

The red/green western shirt is awesome. I can see why they haven't mass produced it, the multiple patterns and varying shapes would be difficult to manufacture. I found a tailored coat from the Aliexpress link that LA2019 posted for $35 less then the eBay selection, but upon closer inspection the Alieexprese unit was made of cotton vs. faux suede. I went ahead and place the order on eBay (although it look like in the film that Deckard's coat is made of military style canvas material? almost like a coyote brown color?) Figured the faux suede would make it more practical to wear on a regular basis. When ordering the Kogyo blaster off Hobby Link Japan, I was a fool and selected 30 day no tracking SAL shipping instead of paying $4 more for FedEx. The jacket takes 10 days to taylor and 5 to ship, so hopefully the coat and blaster will arrive at around the same time. fingers crossed! |

I thought he did at a certain time...but not anymore it seems.
Same with the Deckard's pants...no longer there either. Mind you, he does custom work too |

Very happy, my Kogyo blaster and Deckard jacket came in today. The jacket I think looks and fits pretty good. I'm taking it to the tailor tomorrow to change the location of the collar buttons to give my neck more room when fully buttoned up. The wrist cuff buttons need to be tightened up, and I'm taking some fabric off the bottom because it goes all the way to my ankles, and I want the jacket to end about mid to upper calf. I think too, there's supposed to be 4 buttons on the collar total (two on the left to make it a turtle neck, and two on the right to pin back the fabric tabs for a traditional collar), so if I can find 2 matching buttons, I'll get then placed on the right side of the collar.
The Kogyo blaster is a little warped, but over all I think it's a cool prop. They're listed on ebay for $200, and I got mine for $120, so maybe down the road I can sell it and use the profit to purchase something with working LEDs

Looking good so far. Yes, ankle length is too long, but it's going pass the knees for sure ...as for the gun, it'll do for cosplay for sure. |
