Yes if you can provide a $500.00 kit. Other wise you have to send a full model. _________________ I never have enough time to do all I want to do! |

The $2,000 includes a kit which is sent over to Toku-san for assembly and bluing. The total, including PayPal fees and shipping, is about $2,080. |

Yes.... Nexus7, that sounds correct. If you order one of these special blued TomPros, the 2080 bucks is the total price which includes shipping, labour and all the gun parts.

Expensive??
Well, it might regrettably be unaffordable for most folk, but in this case its like having the original artist creating a commissioned piece - and there's price for that.
Personally I think its glorious and given the pedigree, well worth the money.

Interesting, every model I make comes from my hands as well.
Perhaps I should charge more? _________________ I never have enough time to do all I want to do! |

Certainly! In the end, its what you do already anyway Rich, you create a piece, set a price and hand-build it for your client.
The issue of price (or should you simply put your price up because of this thread) is an entirely different matter because, as it is with any piece of art, there is a perceived value and its that perception of value that underpins the price.
Is yours the same value as the Tomenosuke? Its certainly not for me to presume to say but, you've been doing this long enough to know where your price range should be and how deep in their pockets your clients are willing to dig. If that means you feel that you will still make the sales if it were priced higher, then by all means, set the price to meet the demand.

IMO, it's apples and oranges between Richard's and the Tomenosuke pieces. Rich's seem closest to the original prop in build and spirit, and to me, the closest to having an original blaster prop. The Tomenosuke blasters are like ultra-refined, idealized pieces closest to an actual manufactured version (minus any functionality of course).
I don't know how much more Rich would have to charge to do the bluing on his blasters, but since the original does not appear to have been blued (could it have worn away over time?), it seems unnecessary (from a "closest to the original" perspective).
I think both look awesome in their own way, but if I could only own one, it'd be Richard Coyle's blaster. THEN, a Tomenosuke idealized version... |

In regard to price, it's whatever the market will bear, gentlemen.
Currently there are over seven billion (potential) customers on the planet, more than enough to buy all the blasters available for eons to come, no matter what version… |

Wish that was true, I don't think there is anywhere near .000001% are fans, and .000000001% Blade Runner fans and .0000000000001% with an income to allow them to buy one of either of our offerings. _________________ I never have enough time to do all I want to do! |

That axiom about the market is true and has been long before blasters came along. If sales are not meeting their goals, theoretically sellers should at least consider lowering their price. I know, Rich, it's unthinkable, right? |

For a hand made, hand blued blaster from Nobu I consider it cheap, just take in account the japanese labor hour is like twice as expensive (if not more) than US, and 4times more expensive than most european countries.. I'm VERY tempted to get one. |

New update to the Tomenosuke Blog... Nobutaka Toku will be at the Wonder Festival to show the new "silver and bluing" edition of the PRO. Also on hand will be a wooden display box for the blaster, to be made by Brando Mack of Canada.

Excellent.
The silver pictured is the same as yours, correct?
(I just sent payment for the blued. Now the wait begins) |

I couldn't say if the new Silver is identical to the one I have, but I believe they should be mostly the same. Both built by Toku-san. |
