I saw on the UK Guardian a mention of a new RS film "The Martian".

The comments are, as usual, very interesting. With a rather ferocious anti-RS feeling. But I have to agree with some of the comments: isn't this just a remake of Robinson Crusoe on Mars?

I am currently reading the novel. It's not a bad book, seems well researched (except for the odd detail, but that's just nitpicky old me). The trailer that was released today looks very much like we have a good, entertaining movie coming up.

Cheers!

I am looking forward because of the efforts put into realism, and have put my distaste for Damon aside.

Mars has not been done right in film, possibly EVER. Always aliens or some other fool thing, have to forgive older films since understanding what Mars was really like takes time to filter into Hollywood. Still have a soft spot for Robinson Crusoe on Mars. Wink

This is a big leap forward in that regard, and hoping Sir Scott can make me believe again.

Interstellar was a knock out of the park for me and I hope this one is too.
I really want Americans to wake up some and put some pressure on our leadership to get our asses to Mars!

The more I see and read about the film, the more I like it.

This is a trailer breakdown with SRS commenting:

Good point. We shall soon see..

Strange, I found Interstellar’s "quantum physics bookshelf banjo finale" a bit much myself, not to mention some of it's other quirky science..

So small I overlooked it the first time. You're right, but then again we're talking about apples & oranges here...

No doubt, it's a totally unfair comparison!

Really looking forward to this. The trailer is great, love the use of the Fury Road trailer music.

There are some new articles online, with several high-res photos of sets and the suit.
