All I did was type in "boots with honeycomb" in google images and they were on the third of forth line. I was a bit shocked as well.

I can't muster any enthusiasm for this film. It just looks off to me.

I also have to admit, so far I haven't found the trailers all that interesting - it's just that someone else had to say it first.. Laughing

I got criticized in one of the 2049 Facebook groups for expressing concern. It gave me the impression of the old versus new fan perspective.

Blade Runner was such an odd, accidental film. Totally bombed, became a cult classic, then a classic, then a masterpiece.

Of course all that happened with the only real version, the original Theatrical cut WITH NARRATION.

(I must point out again here that in the narration is where you learn everything about the main character and watching it without you remember the narration. Really try to watch it not knowing anything you knew from the narration and I doubt any fan would be happy)

Okay sorry about the sidetrack.

There is no way to duplicate or in anyway follow the original.

It would have been best to leave it alone.

The Star Wars Prequels, The Force Awakens, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crap should have have proven it's a bad idea.

Having said that of course I will be first in line.

I also despise the idea Deckard as a replicant. This was a movie about finding his humanity again and in the end the bad guy who was the robot saved the human for no reason.

Still and always will be the best ending to any movie ever and I am afraid they are going to ruin it.

It's 2049, not 2018 folks Rolling Eyes How can it be "the same"?
It should've been the same if the story was following the first one...a year later!

I think that this "New BR" will stand for what it is: a somewhat familiar ambiance and look, yet with a few new add-on that mark the length of time between the "old" and the "new".

What has happened in all those years?

1: Deckard has managed to stay pretty much under the radar (as well as Rachael...but that's another story)

2: Tyrell is dead; who's in charge now?

3: Replicant program...still on, but in what form? Are we still producing them for Off-World? With the new tech in place, what kind of "memory" do they have now?

4: After all those years, the Blade Runner are still needed...they keep coming back to Earth, we have to hunt them down...is this question answered in the new BR?
I guess they keep having these dreams of a place they "knew" before...

5: Are Replicants working for the LAPD to hunt other Replicants?
And if so, why those Reps are acceptable, while others are to be killed?
Different training program?

Too many questions left unanswered.

The narration version would be better (like a 40's film noir) if Harrison hadn't phoned it in. But he despised it and it shows in his performance. After Batty dies it completely ruins the moment. I almost never watch that version.

I agree. The film not only lacks important info about the characters and world but without the narration it also drags as many of the shots are the length they are solely for the narration to run over it. The spinner scene with Gaff is especially odd as they are just flying along forever till they get to the station.

Is the narration perfect in delivery - no - but unfortunately it changes the pacing of the film for the worse without it.

I have heard the "Phoned in" complaint before but I never felt that way and I personally love his comments after Roy dies because it's shows he is at just as big of a loss as we all were as to why he saved his life.

The original cut was perfect IMO and I wish, like with SW and all the others, they just left it alone.

To each his own.

Here is what you would not know without the narration:

He is currently unemployed.

Explanation of the City Speak language and why he seems not to know it.

That he was married.

She left because he was or became a cold killer.

Why he quit.

Why he came back.

Anything about Bryant or Gaff.

His feeling about the latest kills, his returning humanity. This agains is wiped out if he is a Replicant. Then he is just a robot they are studying.

What happened at the end with Gaff being there, letting her live. His expectations when running away with Rachael.

Seriously, you can't unknow what you know from the narration and if you could I don't think it would have been the film it has become.

Just my opinion though and everyone is entitled to theirs as long as they realize I am always right. Smile

Goslings boots come in two different heights, 6 and 8 inch, if someone spots anything that confirms which one it is please let us know.

I took a crack at cleaning up the license plate a little - it looks to be a standard stamped (US size) plate, so it's sized to be 12" x 6". Nothing to write home about,
but it doesn't look too horrible at the 10.5" x 5.25" or so you can get if you don't have a large format printer & maybe somebody can use it as a placeholder in
their collection until something else comes along... (I second the call for Ben; I've got his BR plates and they're pretty amazing.)

Is that (almost never) an oxymoron?

Does hardly ever work for you? Smile

The fact is, the stuff you "learn" from the narration is either implied in the other dialogue or action or it doesn't really need to be known to advance the plot.

New Patrolman badges....

Looks like they have gone back to the more traditional styling, even the hat badge. Hopefully some better pics come from SDCC maybe even an a K badge and wallet.

So just in case anyone is wondering here's what I believe to be the label for the Johnny Walker bottles. It measures exactly 3 3/4" wide by 1 3/8" high. Appears to be printed on mylar foil.

I came across it from a weapons cart used on the production.

I think recent bottle news confirms this, nice one. Cool
