This might've been a topic already but I'm a new member. Was the hero prop shown with a blued finish or not? Deckard's Armory on ebay said it was and Richard Coyle said it isn't or in his words he doesn't "believe in the blued" blaster.

The answer is probably more complex than that. It is likely the bluing was stripped to some degree, but not so much as to allow it shine in the lights on screen. It still looked pretty dark in the film, but preproduction photos of the gun do show it a bit lighter than what the normal Steyr dark Bluing looks like, but a few others show it looking pretty dark. The Worldcon seems nearly fully stripped, but with the steel itself darkened with age, and still darker than what a fully stripped receiver would look like or an untreated steel. Part of the confusion comes from that the black rubber stunts were used in a few scenes if only for a second or two. Still the gun looks much darker than a fully stripped steel would look, especially when compared to the bare metal grip butt plate. My theory has always been that the parts were never fully stripped, and just wiped down. or the steel itself on a Steyr is just normally darker. It is certainly darker than the pewters used for the replicas regardless. I would say I hope this helps, but it probably doesn't Wink
