It's that time

These pix are from work.

All items of clothing are store-bought, except the tie. The tie was made using fabric from a shirt. Pants, shirt and tie were all dyed to tweak or change colors. The coat is also a standard store-bought trenchcoat. Barely visible in the above picture are the horizontal stitches across the chest of the shirt and on the collar. Total cost is probably just under $20, for clothes (Goodwill) & dye.

That looks great! Nice touch with the wallet. And all for around $20 too. Well done, sir.

Did you try administering the VK test on your boss?

Did people understand the costume? I'm just not sure outside of communities like this one, who would recognize the costume. I wore a Ghostbusters outfit last week. Not too many people got it.

I actually did turn the desk phone around and VK 'test' my coworker

Nobody 'got it' immediately, but having the ID helped.

"Deckard - blade runner."

I'm suprised few people recognized the Ghostbusters outfit - that's far less subtle and more popular than BR.

Nice!

You'd be surprised what people don't recognize.
I wore a Rebel pilot costume a few years back to a party. Bright orange jumpsuit, white vest, big helmet. . . the works.
Some college age guy walked by me and goes, "Hey, Superman!"

Every time I wear my USCM gear, people always go "Hey! Halo!"

Seems like unless you're dressed as the "Scream guy" or Michael Meyers, people don't really recognize the costume. Rolling Eyes

The best thing about working here? The people who didn't get my costume were mocked by those who did. God, I love living in geek heaven.

Only one person actually got my costume without any hints. Some came close, and even got the movie. One person said I was Dick Tracy(?) or a Detective. Most thought I was a Pimp, and since My girlfriend also dressed as a Pimp and had two of our (male) friends dressed as hookers, it was expected, and I figured my costume did some double duty. I got one good pic but I am an the middle of moving and can't upload the pic yet. Some I have heard may be on line already though. I will have to take a look later.

Mike, you remind me of the the character from the BR computer game (was his name McCoy?). You certainly captured the vibe of the blade runner look nicely for the budget.

OB, that umbrella looks HUGE! Very cool man. You guys do look terrific.

All I did for halloween was sit around and watch HEX!

Thanks Noeland!
Yeah, I bought the biggest umbrella that Costco had to offer...I think it's for golfing or something.
I don't watch TV...is HEX a TV show?

if Gaff wore glasses and had green eyes. Smile Laughing

Since my eyes are glowing I am obviously a replicant. I was trying the posture of Gaff, but my back was in such bad shape from packing and moving my stuff I couldn't hold it. The Holster too was adding to my back issues. I may have to try some more pics another time with the Flight cap too, but I have already started growing my beard back.

gratuitous plug:

Andy, if you would like to talk about a vest that is exactly what you're looking for, I have lots of experience making men's dress vests. In my former life, I worked for a historical costumer who always passed the vests off to me so she could focus on dresses.
