I posted some higher quality scans from a photographic print a while back here:

http://propsummit.com/viewtopic.php?t=236&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=40

And yes I to have had whiskey from a plastic bottle- I wish that was one of the thing I had forgotten about that night!
These 3D renderings look great...

Thanks for the response.
No, I live in Olympia, Washington...but my girl-friend and sometime partner in crime (Rachael here) lives in Oregon, I go down there to visit her quite a bit and am planning to move there as soon as I find work there.
Thanks for signing up.
As we get past the release of the Final Cut on HD, things with the BR Whiskey Bottle Project are really going to go into full tilt boogie...having signed up with a statement of interest will give you first alert status as to when the "Buy-In" page opens up.

Further to my attempt to get information on the whisky bottle, i recieved this from JW today.
I asked if they had anything at all to do with the production and i got this reply;

"Thank you for taking time to contact Johnnie Walker. We appreciate hearing from our consumers because your feedback is important.

We are more than happy to assist you with your inquiry. Please be advised that the mocked up bottle on Blade Runner movie was made with Johnnie Walker's permission. However, we have no information on who actually made it. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Once again, thank you for contacting Johnnie Walker.

Sincerely,

Adriana P

Interesting that what J.W. has to say fly's in the face of what has been said by various experts that actually worked with the bottle for BR who said it was a "found" object...
Still...questions remain:
If it was a found object, who was responsible for applying the J.W. Labels to it?
If it was created by J.W. for the movie, why don't they have more info on it?
If it was a found object, who was responsible for making the plastic copies from it?(that we now KNOW exist)

All this aside...
Some exciting news today...
A new Bottler got back to us and cut a previous bid to do the Bottle IN HALF!
Still waiting on the HD FC before we finalize anything.

the bottle he picks up from the piano in the deleted scenes is definately glass. check out the way it refracts, plastic doesn't do that.

Also the bottles on the table next to Rachel in the deleted scenes definately appear to be the same size now we can see the footage clearer.

There's also two JW bottles next to the Esper in that sequence, however they appear and disappear as the camera angle changes. In the close ups of the Esper screens its the JW bottles, but in t he long shots that show Deckard sitting there its different bottles. They're in the extreme lower right of the frame, and they appear to lack some shine, leading me to wonder if those are the plastic versions.

Hi everybody,

I've read all your commentaries regarding the plastic vs glass + size versions of the actual props used in the movie...

I think I have an explanation... Listen to this :

Shortly after I graduated from my art studies (1988), I visited a friend who was working for a renowed French packaging company. As I visited the place with him, I saw a collection of maybe 20 incredible bottles lined on a table... their design reminded me of the "Blade Runner wiskey bottle"... (I was already a fan of the movie, that's why I remember this)

I asked my friend what it was and he said they were done for one of their clients (the French company Pernod Ricard) who wanted to redesign the bottle of one of their leading products. I was very excited by their shape but he told me to calm down because they were just pre-projects... in fact, as it happens almost every time in the packaging industry, the final design approved by this client was about to be very close to the one already sold in shops all around the country... what a waste of time and energy ! (that's when I decided packaging was not for me !)

Those bottles were done in plastic (full resin) for the early concepts, with variations in shape, color, size, with no labels at all.
Some of them were more elaborate, made of glass, with slight shape variations...
The 2 or 3 final concepts were all identical in shape, with different labels and were made of glass, filed with liquid, like a real product.

Maybe the guys at the BLADE RUNNER prop department found similar objects and customised them with JW labels, or maybe they were comissioned by JW but the actual employees you got in touch with don't have record of this attempt to redesign their bottle ?

Hope I've helped with this theory !
Wink

PS : I've signed up yesterday and am definitely for the glass version !

Recycling in the early '80s wasn't what it is today. It wouldn't surprise me if the prop department had someone go fetch a box full of glass/plastic discards from the dumpster somewhere.

Here's a pic I've been meaning to post for some time, found
in a "Rare Bottles Book".
It's really the closest thing Ive seen in shape and size to the ever elusive BR Whiskey Bottle.

And this one:

And for you overly thirsty BR Bottle-Nut's out there, this one:

MUCH thanks to Loyalizer for these(Have a drink for me pal.)
And this marks the END of the bottle Measurement quandry! They are all in, tabulated and have been applied to these drawings and many others. No worries on the labels either, all have been taken into account.
Thanks to all who have contributed here, you made this happen more than I.
The next pics I plan to post here will be of the REAL-DEAL...as alway's, your patience is appreciated!
And YES! There IS still time to sign up with a "Statement of Interest"...But not much Very Happy

Oh those are terrific!
They'd look cool printed on canvas paper and hung on the wall as a triptych. Smile

Thanks Super!
Loyal's work blows me away too. I have a few other projects I'm thinking of hitting him up for renderings of...

I agree they would look awesome as wall art...but wouldn't you rather have the real thing?
You could display it right next to that new Trench that's coming your way soon!

Thanks! They're about 4x10 inches each. They could be used as box art for the finished product lol.
