Sorry to go O.T for a second, who made that Sector 7 sign? Looks amazing.

Thanks, Gaff87.

The striking Sector 7 sign, as well as all of the beautiful replica BR license plates, were made for me by our own Whitefall (Ben). I constructed an insert panel for the entire display area using a product called "steel paper," which is an adhesive metal-backed sheeting used for custom building whiteboards. Then I applied strong magnets to the backs of the signs and plates that Ben made for me. They can now be positioned and rearranged easily on the back wall of my display. I also have several of Whitefall's replica BR signs and license plates on display in my office at work, where the walls are made of metal.

All of the image files for the signs and plates (both "clean" and "dirty" versions) are available from Whitefall as "Digital Prop Packs" in propsummit's Prop Shop.

Very nice!!
I've seen Whitefalls work and it is top notch.
I make my own in photoshop and am working on a Sector 7 sign at the moment. Thinking of getting some decal paper and printing it onto that then onto a plastic sheet, not really decided yet though.

I totaly agree too on the fact that having a Mead concept blaster built and painted by shawn is a great honor... here is mine (aside a Lane concept gun by siderio)

Here's a couple photos Shawn sent me regarding my inquiry about the Concept Blaster (I'll be happy to take them down if requested).

Shawn said that this build-up was "the last one I did for a more up to date idea of what they look like."

Enjoy...

Thanks Neil !

Forgot to tell that Shawn painted the grip with something that gives you the feeling it's rubber instead of resin when you hold the gun... Very nice detail !

If I'm not mistaken, I was the first to request this feature. Medicom makes a rubber spray that I had used on a few projects before, including the grip of my SidKit Space: 1999 Stun Gun. It goes on translucent grey, but with additional applications becomes darker and more opaque. With several layers, it looks and feels like black rubber. I asked Shawn whether he could do the grip of my Mead Concept Blaster using a rubber spray like that. It came out great -- apparently so well that he's using it as a regular feature of the finish now.

I can get more information for you about the Medicom spray tonight, Andy.

I'm not sure whether Shawn used the same product, but he said he knew of something similar, and the results he got on the grip of the Blaster were exactly what I had hoped for, so it seems that the equivalent product is available outside of Japan.

That is an awesome shot!

If anyone wants the instructions (no longer available) for the Dane concept gun (aka Leon's Mother Defender Concept Blaster) by Siderio (aka SidKit) here's a link to my file server:

What does the muzzle look like on that thing anyway?Does it say .725 mm or 7.25 mm?Is it supposed to be a railgun needing "cryo"to chill a superconductor? Why do I ask so many questions??

Here's some further information for those interested in Medicom's "Super Rubber Spray," a product similar to that used by morganthirteen to rubberize the grips of his most recent Concept Blaster builds.

The product comes in a 180 ml spray can. As the label states, it sprays on in a translucent smoke color; adding additional layers will produce a flat black appearance.

Beneath the warning triangles on the front of the can, the text states in essence that by simply spraying on this product, you can create a rubber surface with applications that range from a "non-slip" surface to anything you can imagine.

I don't want to derail this thread about the Syd Mead Concept Blaster, but will post just a few photos of the SidKit Space: 1999 Stun Gun I built and finished using Medicom's Super Rubber Spray. I used the spray on the grip of the Stun Gun as well as the trigger, producing on both a durable rubber surface that gives a very different feel than painted resin.

I don't remember exactly how much one can costs, but would guess it might have been around JPY 1800 (roughly US $18.00 at the current exchange rate).

I'm not sure whether this product is available outside of Japan, but Shawn has been using something similar when finishing his recent Mead Concept Blasters. I'd guess a bit of hunting on the Internet should turn something up.

I hope this helps!

Thanks, Pilot!
