Now back to the discussion of the Blaster...

I had heard that a "Pug" frame was used on the original, I'm open to any reasonable suggestion that I may be mistaken on this point.
Let's suppose then that I am wrong in what I heard about the frame model...I have also heard it said countless times that it was a Charter Arms .44 frame...does that rule out the possibility that any of the many variations couldn't be used?

OK BUT once you remove the barrel it is no longer a PUG the frames are the same.

I used the term "smaller" to describe the Offworld grips, I should clarify that everyone who has handled my Offworld has remarked the grip is very crowded and uncomfortable to handle, the Bianchi grips by comparison are an outstanding fit. I have taken a few more pictures for comparison to support what I previously stated as to the difference in thickness as well as the middle and last finger grooves being crowded. Perhaps we just have unusually large hands but it difficult for me to imagine the original BR prop maker designing an uncomfortable interface for such a creative piece of gunsmithing.

In a normal world thing you would be so right.

But we are talking about making a prop, with NO time to redo it and being told to make certen features work.

Have you ever held a Classic Phaser, or a Phaser three?? Real bad handle design, on the Classic the actors had to bend their triger fingers all the way back to push the buttons.

Phaser three's have tapered handles and very easy to lose your grip on.

A lot of old sci-fi guns were almost as bad, the Lost in Space Laser was made from a TOY gun, made for kids and has a small handle.

They had very little time to do this and that is why I think they when back and cut the butt plate with a finger releife to make more room for the hand, it was a after it was made Fix.

Good observation about the time pressure of the motion picture industry. Back in college (1970) we had a guest lecture by the designer of the phaser for "Classic Trek". He said the same thing you did about management "wanting it done yesterday", then cost, with quality trailing somewhere behind. He was especially hacked off when after burning the midnight oil to complete the props, he discovered that the deadline was so the producer could show them to his girlfriend. He also mentioned that dealing with the studios was a ongoing problem of ego and unrealistic demands. I can't remember his name but he also co-designed the game Twister (right hand red, left foot blue).
Has anyone made a grip fit test between the manufactured models? It would be interesting to have the person who held the hero prop for the Worldcon pictures to comment on how well it fit the hand compared to other models.

With all due respect... when they talk about how a gun fits the hand, I think they mean when you're holding it like this.



In all the photos I've posted where somebody is holding the gun by the grip, in a firing position, that hand is mine.

Now I hasten to add that Rich did handle the gun as well and did have the opportunity to hold the grip; I just don't have pictures of him in that pose.



However at the time I did specifically note that the grip felt really BIG and COMFORTABLE in my hand, compared to the replicas I have held up to that time. Those would be version 3 and 4 Coyles, as well as the pre-WC metal Coyle and the prototype Offworld.

I don't have Coyle's post-worldcon version yet so I couldn't say for sure about that one.

Oh yes I looked so good after a near all night drive and sleeping a few hours in my van.

My new model is much bigger and fits better.

I am amazed how the stunt I had was full size with the Styer receivicer and so short with Grips...

Hello to everyone!

Unfortunately my mother is very ill and I am spending the most of my time in hospital with her. This is the motivation of my silent here. However I think that the Bianchi grips could be a great discovery aslo if I have to say that seems that a lot of modification were made. However, as I said, you will have a starting point with my new model, then we can make the upgrading for my kit. I heared that someone can send me those grips. I really would like to receive them so I could compare them with mine and understand if my measurements were right and start to work on Bianchi grips for the upgrading. I have near finished the new Blaster and I will start making 30 kit for the collectors of this comunity, so stay tuned because the other collectors will have to wait more for the definitive production. I will post some new images in about a week. Also I was contacted from who say to me to not more post in this message board because I have not the copyright for my new Blaster. They said "we will have soon the copiright to make an official resin blaster". I decidede that if this is a joke or not I will continue to post here because if a licensed product must be a crap all of us have to know this. A RESIN LICENSED BLASTER??? ALL IN RESIN??? A ONE PIECE OF RESIN AS THE SERENITY"??? I prefer to believe that someone has joking with me. However you must to know that I shared this informations and the people that supported me in the past replied" please Siderio don't write on the certificate that will comes with your new Blaster that I supported you" I DON?T WANT TROUBLES!?!

So I will thank you all people on this message board! But i will not write on the certification the names of the collectors that supported me. In this way I will assume the responsabilities of my production myself.
