I will collect data from all interested people for one or two months (I would to cut time to one month, but time will say...).

Are you really sure about this, Joan ? I think it's maybe a little too short to have all the interested people involved in this... I know you have enough experience in this field (as I do), but, well... Photos of some props will have to be taken, texts written, documents scanned in the proper way in order to be printed, etc... It's a lot of work to be done in a month or two, and we all have a real job that already takes a lot of time...
Rolling Eyes

I also think you should automaticaly send a technical guide to all the ones who would like to send some material... I usualy ask for images in 300dpi CMYB (CMJN in french) in jpg or tiff (tiff if they deliver them on a FTP, jpg by email, then I transform them into tiff). Same thing for the texts...
Cool

I'll try to post some ideas on your forum today !

hehe... You are right Fred. Perhaps 2 months will be not enough. It depends of people who wants contribute, of course. My first idea was a one-person project, and thus, time are not an issue (well, you know what I refer to). Ok. Let's go with interest list and subjects proposal, and then will see timings.

But, in the other hand, I need to limit time to ensure printer quotes are valid too.

This is a good idea! Smile Maximum resolution and quality is mandatory in the pictures. Texts could be yn any PC compatible format, but, as easy as, text mode with no formatting is preferred.

www.therpf.com

I will be glad to send you what I have as well, unfortunately, I am sure it is probably the same stuff everyone else has.

If you could list things you are particularly looking for, that could cut down on redundant pictures or text being sent to you.

You are right. I'm working in a prop list to ensure no duplicates or redundant work.

The list will content the following categories:

1. Real props used in the movie

2. Real objects used in the movie (for real object I understand a lighter, a multipress, an alarm clock and so on, not the Voigth Kampff machine!)

3. Prop replicas fan made, like Rachael dress, Marguerite glasses, paper props, the Paul Smit's whiskey bottle and so on

...perhaps someone more?

And also identified props and how to do the process, and then, how to find them or make it. Projects to come. Curious auctions. Weird ones. Collectors point of view (real screen props collectors, and the rest of us... Smile ).

This list will be posted in the Fan Book forum as well here and there, to catch any one interested. This weekend I'm out (F1 races!!!!) but I will post it soon, perhaps Sunday at midnight.

Joan,

I think that you should ask for "neutral photos" of the props to the ones interested in helping on this, I mean photos taken on a white background. This would help to clearly see all the details in each prop, and also to link all the visuals... I mean, they would then all have the same visual approach... It would be easier to have a persistence in the visuals, a little bit like in the Lucasfilm archives kind of books...

What do you think of this ???

Fred

A good idea (as ever!). In fact, this will be very difficult to acomplish (in all cases), but is as desirable as well.

I'll take new snapshots of all my objects and "props" with a white background inside a light tent. The ideal will be a clipped version of each picture, with object without background at all. But... this is not possible, I think. Or... I take Photoshop and put all my weapons to work.... and mask every picture one by one!

WIll update the "Guidelines" with this point in mind.

Thanks Fred! You are an unvaluable aid for this project!!!
