I think will be nice to classify props with a sort of taxonomy, outline, schema or simply a list of categories.

My proposal (ever in evolution):

1. Outdoor items
1.1 Street furniture
1.2 Vehicles

Indoor items
1.1 Furniture
1.1.2 Deckard's Apartment
1.1.2.1 Esper
1.1.2.2 TV set (upside down)
1.1.3 Bryant Office
1.1.3.1 Lamp
1.1.3.2 Coat rack
1.1.4 Zhora's
1.1.4.1 Coat rack
1.1.4.2 Hair dryer
1.1.5 Leon's room
1.1.5.1 Coat rack
1.1.5.2 Pictures
1.2 Electrical devices
1.2.1 Kitchen devices
1.2.2 Desktop devices

Personal items
1.1 Clothes and shoes
1.1.1 Deckard
1.1.1.1 Shoes
1.1.1.2 Trench coat
1.1.1.3 Trousers
1.1.1.4 Necktie
1.1.1.5 Shirts
1.1.2 Batty
1.1.2.1 Shoes
1.1.3 Rachael
1.1.3.1 Black dress
1.1.3.2 Blouse
1.1.3.3 Fur coat
1.2 Personal objects / and use
1.2.1 Wallet
1.2.2 Cards
1.2.3 Money
1.2.4 Tobacco
1.2.4.1 Rachel
1.2.4.1.1 Cigarettes
1.2.4.1.2 Lighter
1.2.4.2 Holden
1.2.4.2.1 Cigarettes
1.2.4.3 Deckard
1.2.4.3.1 Duck weight (opium smoking?)
1.2.4.99 Other people tobacco items
1.2.4.99.1 Clay pipes (opium smoking?
1.2.5 Drinks
1.2.5.1 Tsing Tao bottle
1.2.5.2 Whiskey bottle
1.2.5.3 "Spanish" bottle
1.2.5.4. Sushi master's bottles
1.2.5.5 Marguerita glass
1.2.5.6 Whisky CiBi glass

PostPosted: Tue Apr 29, 2008 3:18 pm    Post subject: TECHNICAL SPECS AND PRICE!!! Reply with quote

Well, I have a proposal from my printer. Following you will find the technical specs of the projected book, and a price proposal to make it possible.

Technical specs:

Size: 165x240 mm, thus 6.6x9.6" apróx.
Pages: 96
FULL CMYK COLOR in all pages
Satin paper ("couché" type), 170 grs.
Hard cover
Jacket in full color, plastified
Pages are stitched, not glued

This will result in a very exclusive and deluxe edition. Each volume will be numbered.

The minimum run for this kind of book is very high for my initial expects, but if critical number is reached, no matter to produce it.

I wanna insure the minimum orders required, thus... I WILL ADD ANOTHER COPY *FREE* to first 100 orders! Thus, if you order 1 copy, will pay 1 and receive 2. If you order 3 copies, you will pay 3 copies and receive 6 for the same price!

Yes. I wanna insure minimum orders to make it happens!

PRICE

This is a very hard to calculate and be balanced, precise, etc. BUT, I need to say all of you a price.

Each volume will cost US $75.00 (I have adjusted my Euro costs to US $)

Shipping and handling is NOT INCLUDED. This book must be protected as well worth it is. I cannot send it in a "simple" bubble envelope or so. I hope a cardboard box with bubble film inside will be better. Shipping methods will be proposed in several formats: Priority International, EMS International and Domestic (this last one only to Spain, of course). Europe and EEUU/Canada will have differents quotes. Rest of world will be calcualted in order basis.

This is a hard task, I know, but I cannot provide a flat rate for this point. Shipping 1Kg packet from Spain to US could cost between $37.50 and $52.50. Thus, I reduced book size to be able to use more cheaper options. Shipping cost are not precised at moment. But you could count an overall cost between $25,00 and $35,00 at least for 1 copy (or 2, if you have done one of the 100 first orders).

My objective is not go beyond US $100,00 as grand total.

Take in mind. This will be a VERY EXCLUSIVE edition, with rich finish and high quality printing.

Any other cheap options will be not acceptable (IMHO) for a product like this.

NOW, IT'S YOUR TURN!

Please, confirm all of you your interest in any number of copies. Remember, FIRST 100 ORDERS will have 2x1 for sure. NEXT ONES will have 1 copy for 1 price. This offer takes in mind the contributors, identifiers, prop makers, and so on that contributes with any kind of materials: text, references, pictures, etc. to be included in the book. I think 100 people are too much contributors for this book, but I wanna reward with a 50% discount each one of you contributing to make it possible in both ways: contents and ordering it.

If you are confortable with your order done yet, you will receive 2x your ordered copies. If you wanna change your order (in case you had been interested in more that 1 copy), please, indicate exact number of copies you wanna order. Take a look to the current list. When orders reach the number 100, offer 2x1 is ended.

And, in the worst case, you don't want this book, simply drop me a line or comment to be out of the list...

I think my poor English is enough to explain the idea. Oh, don't suffer for this. All text included in the book will be corrected by English experts (an English teacher between them!).
My limits are not an issue for the book itself.

Thanks to all of you! Without you, this cannot be done!!!

Joan

Now that I have an estimated format, I'll start doodling cover concepts... Expect a first proposal this week-end ! Clay pipes are ordered yet. 4 of them. No notices from John yet... but... I think things are going... Rolling Eyes

About cover. My idea is a great logo made with type over a picture background, perhaps dimmed. I don't know what picture tu use: a prop, a set of tools, a faded general image...

Updating the list...

I'll propose a layout for the whole cover, logo + photo included. I also plan to turn the logo into a smaller version to include in all the pages, aside the page number...

Be confident, I'll try to submit something neat...

by the way jfuste - I would love to contribute images I have to this project. However, am I to assume that you have enough material to work with already?

I have collected a lot of images through open posts throughout the years and would hate to submit something without permission ( wouldn't even know where to begin, as to the origin/owner of some of these pics Very Happy )

Anyway..... let me know if I can help.

Best
