I have access to a the set that I found the knob on and will hopefully have pics soon. The item I found it on is a WWII era TG-5-B Telegraph set. The set has at least three of the knobs/binding posts on it that seem to be an almost exact match. I have found it on some other items but they seem just slightly different.

Pics from Ebay auctions...

Amazing! You're not into Star Wars by any chance? There is a ton of stuff that needs 'finding'. You could probably even turn it into a job.

I used to pick up and sell Graflex and Hieland flash units cheap back in the early 90's. At least one of the guys I sold a Graflex to ended up working for prop companies including Master Replicas.

As much as I like Star Wars, I really don't have the drive to find all the stuff from those movies. BR is my love. I do still often pick up stuff at Garage sales and thrift stores, because I like the look of them as potential original props, and then will find out later they were used in a movie. Who knows, I may have some unidentified props in SW lying around the apartment or storage space.

Well I have the piece, but my camera is dead. It also uses a Lithium Ion battery that they don't seem to carry anywhere.Sad

It is from the TG-5B telegraph set and is a perfect match

It seems my battery won't charge for my camera, but the post is very similar to the pic above, except that the screw post is shorter. I compared it to the size of the Coyle and Sidkit ones, and it seems just a bit larger which would make sense. I have yet to check the count of knurls on the knob part, but it looks pretty much the same as the pics from Karl of the Worldcon.

That part is not real. I can tell by the "teeth" at the base. It looks like a Sidkit or Coyle metal part darkened. Sorry, but luckily whoever fell for it did not pay much for it.

My piece's "teeth" Match this photo of the worldcon...

They are finer and also the proportion of the base is more like the WC pics by Karl.

The Supposed "gun shop find" looks like a locking screw was attached somehow at the bottom to give it the same appearance. It also looks to me a single part instead of multiple parts screwed together. It is an obvious fake and when I can get better pics of what I found you will see why.

The pic above is from a blurry photo that blurs out the details, and is part of a parts lot I purchased. I have seen quite a few different versions of these and they all have the same functional details, just some slight different design details and proportions.

That was me - I'm waiting for it to arrive - Should be able to tell whether it's a "darkened" Sidkit or Coyle from the metal I guess if it's soft, then I guess it's his- if not, well who knows - anyway, can't go wrong for a ?1 - better than the plastic one I have!!

True, for that price it is worth it no matter what. Could be interesting info still.

From the pics at Sid's website I doubt is his though. More likely Coyle since I know he was trying to replicate the "teeth", and it looks like Sid never tried to. Rich also would combine stuff together and not notice how proportions changed. I checked out his pictures of his new metal gun and though they aren't close enough on that part, they do show the thicker base.

Could also be just Fan made. The fact that the person is trying to call it an original part makes me more suspicious. Also if the story is true the "gunsmith" could have been a fan themselves, and made or obtained it for themselves or part of something else.
