Been trying to ID this little piece and the best i could come up with was this late 70s AMEX calculator. Its not the same as the original but it has the same design and button config. If anyone has better pics or has already identified the original, a response would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure it is the same model but without the AMEX logo and deco. Proportions, screen and button configuration is the same one.
It may be a generic model of a calculator used for commercial promotion...
Congrats on your find! |

Its close but not the same, the number buttons are directly under the lcd screen on the AE model but the spinner version the buttons are slightly to the side
This one is closer but it is missing a button to the left
I'm certain that the calculator used was a casio |

It may be the shadows, or how it is mounted, but it looks kind of thick.
I did minor work on this to try and bring out the detail of the thickness:

Casio and Braun are so ever present in the movie in props, that I am beginning to believe they got some sort of deal from these companies.

Thanks guys, your second casio Mega is very close but the LCD is, like the AMEX, too far across the top buttons. The clean up work from Amish definately reveals rounded edges on the original also, but i do think youve narrowed it down to a casio.
Im not sure this is even important as i got the pic off a Japanese booklet
that was on ebay recently, and i cant seem to find it in any of the stuff i have. It may have been one of those things that never made it to final approval, someone in charge may have said, " Hey, that calculator looks too much like a calculator, lose it" _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

Just noticed this in Andys picture of the cop armor, not the same model, but probably confirms it as a casio.............

I have ID'd both of the gauntlet calculators, but have had a hard time finding them. I seem to always get outbid on ebay for them.

Boy, that brings back memories. I had one that was very much like the one you have pictured. You could set it to play a tone for each keystroke. The sliding switch, on the upper right, was labeled somthing like: "OFF"-"ON"-"TONE", from top-to-bottom. Each key actually played a different note, so you could play it like a small piano. It was quite thin, and approached the size of a credit card. I got mine back around 1983, or '84. It is now gone...

Hi I was just wondering please look at the on off switch on the spinner photo.
Look at the on and off switch on the Casio LC-781 it looks vertical to me.. I am wondering if the spinner Calculator could possible be Casio LC 78 G which has a horizontal on off switch?
I am just wondering?
All my best in the search, all you guys are doing amazing jobs I certainly could not do it.

I think Megamicrofish has the right Casio, even the pic shows the two-toned colours...as the LCD too close from the first button, it's just the perspective on the pic that distorts the visual perception of the viewer ...besides that, good research and effort on everybody's part ![](images/smiles/001.gif) |

I think the on/off button is alright (not a 100% sure because of the quality of the screen grab ) |

I think so... if I would have had it when I was at Gene Winfield's shop in Mojave.. when he was restoring the flying spinner I would have GIVEN Gene the Calculator to be able to say I had something in the Spinner at the Sci-fi museum.... I think Bryan Ebenhoch rounded up the walkie talkies..
