I don't use a brass brush when I build this kit, and it comes out just fine.

looking good dan! did you mod your old sidkit? or is this an entirely new kit?

I was thinking maybe filing off the major excess and using different grades of sand paper and wirewool will possibly produce results simular to the wire brush, just requires a bit more elbow grease Wink

You should do just fine with sandpaper. The wire brush just adds a bit of sheen to it, but it won't matter anyway if you are blueing.

I'm scared shitless to start using this blueing. Don't know why, just seems like it will be messy. I plan on trying the ammo cover first since I won't be using that piece. Just gonna dip my toes in first instead of diving right in. lol

Beastmaster, that's exactly what I did. Hand sanding, filing, and steel wool. Also polish.

This is not my older model Sidkit, this was a commission build of the new model. I loved this kit, and was sad to see it go, Laughing But the new owner seems quite stoked about it, and that meant a lot!

Wish I had the cash to get one of my own, or at least that Sid could send me the few parts I need to covert my older model. Sad

And the blueing isnt messy at all, don't be afraid, just wear gloves, put it on a fine sponge, and wipe it on.

Here's a link to the whole album.

I wouldn't worry about it Dan, you done a great job with your sidkit converstion. I dont want to get too preciouse with mine. I'll probably just leave all the molded screws in, thats how lazy I am lol!
Though one last upgrade part I might consider is the strigger guard. I see you've bent yours into shape but it still looks pretty different from the worldcon one. what do you think?

Are you talking about my old one, or the new commissioned piece?

Yeah mine does still look a bit different, but I'm pretty happy with it.

I still don't think anyone has it right. The newest Coyle looks the closest to me.

If anybody has any extra Worldcon Sidkit parts, (Steyr mag housing, not the part that holds the LEDs, the two screw greeblies, the switch, and the hex screws for the revolver frame) please let me know!

Smile
