So I have been trying to buy a pack of these cigarettes and after losing two auctions I finally won an empty pack. I was shocked how much it cost. A full pack went for $68. A pack with maybe five cigarettes $55.

I was curious what these cigarettes really looked like? Are there any current brands that have similar wide cigarettes such as Boyards?

I would appreciate any help. It would just be for a display.

Phil / repdetect is right, you can see some GITANES in this photo I've posted here on propsummit some time ago...

Boyards are really expensive because they're not produced anymore since the mid-80s...

Well, it looks like these are no longer available in the US, and I haven't been able to find an online vendor that carries them... a number carry the Gitanes Blonde, which is more like a standard pack of US cigarettes... anyone have any idea of another brand that would be available in the US that would be similar in color & size to the Boyards/Gitanes? I'd really like to find something to fit in the nice Boyards box I made, but the problem with going to a lot of tobacco shops to try to find something is the sales clerks often know the brand names of what they carry, but have no idea what the actual product is like inside that sealed box of imported cigs (color, size, whether or not it has a filter, etc.)

Thanks much!

This is worth a try,
Roll your own cig, this way you can control the size and shape, then dab the cig with a teabag soaked in boiling water, when it dries, the colour is similar to the Boyards. Try it on a regular cig to see if it works for you.
The bonus at the end is a cup of tea with a smooth, Virginia taste

heres a tip as well, while doing my own research on the subject i found that the average cigarette is about 8mm in diameter. while the boyards are 10mm. also, they apparently use a different type of rolling paper similar to the blonde's mentioned earlier. hope this might help in some way

Actually, the roll-your-own-and-dip-in-tea idea is quite clever. Thanks, offworld66!

Does Camel still make their Wides? They might be a closer size match to the Boyards. You could then use the tea bag trick and come up with a pretty fair approximation.

I know next to nothing about cigarettes and what kinds are available... but it looks as if Camel does still make its Wides:

Hope this helps guys,
Got hold of these not long ago, thanks Aaron, still had the plastic wrapping.
These are the white paper version, need to do some teabaggin myself. Corn paper version had the same dimensions.Waiting for the bottle to arrive before i experience a 25 year old gasper(cig) BTW, using tea is an old showbiz trick used to age mainly paper products as well as replacing scotch in the hotel minibar.

Thanks, I found it:

I notice there are some clear margarita glasses on the bartop as well...

For some reason I was sure this was the brand that Rachel smokes during the VK test. Can anyone tell from her fag?

You can rest assured that Boyards is the brand used by both Rachael and Holden in the movie. The ones seen on screen are the Corn paper type Boyards. Ive posted some pics with dimensions of a genuine cig for anyone who wants to make their own.

Try some candlelight, a nice merlot and a little Kenny G in the background, it might work out for you
