|
|
Alright, after tinkering with this thing since last November, it's finally finished, my Sidkit Blade Runner blaster. Learned quite a few things on this, some electronics, soldering, metal bluing and how NOT to drill into metal.
I've kept it pretty much in line with the Worldcon Photos as far as my accurizing went, except I kept it relatively clean (like it might have been during filming). I opened the starboard side of the revolver housing, under the bolt lever, the front probe retracts, put in holes, screws, leds and greeblies where needed.
The finish was a learning experience, I got some Cold blue for the steyr upper part and it took a few attempts to get it where I wanted. The steyr cartridge is more of a satin black (I keep hearing it's plastic) and the revolver housing is gloss black.
The interesting silly stuff is the greeblies. All the washer things around the leds are Sculpy, as is the round grey disc and (sadly) the two slot heads on the side of the cartridge (the actual screws are hex). On the other side, that little switch is just a piece of sintra with the switch carved into it (but no writing - beyond my capabilities). I kept the white wires off since I still believe they weren't originally meant to be there. As well , the only thing on here that I didn't mean to be there was a cap head under the large slot screw, gonna swap that with something less obtrusive.
At this point the large screw in the starboard side is still the slot, waiting for a Scope repro to become available - and there still is the controversy about that part. I still have the ammo to work on as well.
I'm really excited about this gun. Nevermind that it's one of those grails, but to have it in metal with a bunch of moving parts makes it just damn cool - and it weighs a ton.

Ken,
Like I said elsewhere, you've done a man's job sir. Revel in your time.
This is excellent work! And with a deft hand for the subtle. |
