|
|
Here is a quick photo of the protoype wallet set I've been working on. It is a work in progress, and there are items not yet completed that will be included in the final set. I am simultaneously working on a tutorial explaining the process and giving credit to those who provided information or items. The badges are all metal with a gold plated finish. The ID card is based on the Worldcon find. I used the beautiful overhead map created by Whitefall for a background. A number of well known collectors helped me with this project including Blad, Whitefall, Kevin B., Juno, Phase Pistol, Spinner44.com, Roy Batty, Darkwave, Jedi Punk and others. The set shown is not complete, there are other components that are still being finished.
My theory on the badge layout is simple. In the real world, a cop's wallet badge is usually the same or maybe a smaller version of a uniform badge. That's how it works where I am a lieutenant, my badge is a flat version of the one I wear on my shirt. We've seen the two piece unform badges so I decided to create a smaller version for the wallet.
Morgan Paull, who played Dave Holden in the movie, was very helpful and generous. He's a pretty great guy. In this photo, imagine that he has been shot and Deckard is taking over the case. Deckard checks his map while looking at Holden's wallet contents, Holden's gun and the "black hole" gun Leon shot Holden with.
This is the PROTOTYPE so it is not perfect, but in the words of Tom Southwell (production artist on BR), "...the Blade Runner world was an imperfect world..." so maybe the flaws are accurate.

Absolutely Beautiful! I am always amazed with what a "true fan" can do to expand a movies universe. |

Here is what the back of the license looks like. I incorporated a DOT/FAA flight rating, using the correct nomenclature for a Spinner type craft. All seals and logos are agency accurate. The mag stripe is a real high-energy stripe that can be encoded.
Igniters, PM me on what you need. I think you were interested in one of my earlier effort badges?? |

Eltee,
I said it elsewhere and I will gladly say it here! I love it! The approach you took with the license is fantastic!
I cannot wait to see the entire package once finished. _________________ www.propsummit.com

Like all hobby projects, progress is steady but behind schedule. The completed Holden set shown is now in the hands of actor Morgan Paull, the real Holden. He is pleased with it.
All the card stuff is done. Police ID's, licenses, charge cards, apartment access cards, business cards, etc. done. Waiting on more customized wallets and more metal badges. That is the slowest part of the process, one place casts them in metal, another enamels and finishes them.
I haven't forgotten those of you who asked for prototypes. I will have an email to you this week.
I had hoped everything would have been done and I would have unveiled my secret project by now, but Murphy's Law runs strong. |

My first batch of metal badges is here. A couple of big, uniformed badges and several wallet badges. The project is moving along. The bottom 3 badges are wallet sized.

Holy cow those are very very nice. You know I will be in contact with you. That full size force badge in metal is something I have been dreaming about. the other badges are even better. Thanks for posting them here Gary.

Actor Morgan Paull now has the wallet set shown above. He expressed an appreciation of having a police wallet set with him in character as Holden. Mr. Paull turns out to be a supporter of police and has portrayed policemen in movies.
I have taken one of the large uniform 2-piece badge sets to a local police badge maker to have it finished, enameled, plated and pins attached. When they are done, I'll post pics.
My badge caster has had to put my stuff on a back burner for a while, but I did get my original order done so that's good for now. The additional wallets I ordered arrived.
I have enough components to start putting together my semi-secret project, hopefully I'll have time next week. |
