The RED lines signify areas I would make semi-bold and the PURPLE lines signify areas I would make bold. This would help certain areas stand out better, as well as areas that are more prominent in their relationship/proximity to the viewer.
Here are some images:
Other than maybe adding the NARCISSUS under the right wing in the front shot, these still look fantastic. Regardless, just some slight suggestions to think about... _________________ .

I've seen your model before Starrigger on the the 3d Warehouse. It's great, thanks for sharing, and welcome! When you get to the engine nacelle exhausts pm me, as I updated those by modeling them in 3d in sketchup, and it could save you time in doing those exhaust grills!
Been busy the last couple of weeks with work and various stuff, but hope to update the thread with an underside view by the weeks end.
Oh and thanks for the comments Monroville, I've impleted those line weight changes.

Love it!! Kuddos to Space Jockey having slaved over those drawings...wow! I can now scratch-build the nose of the Nostromo in the same scale they used for the film |

I actually broke my mouse. No kidding, I had to bin the thing today. I knackered the wheel on it. Too much zooming in and out
I'm almost done with the titleblock on the blueprints and technical info. I'll post it in the for sale section monday or tuesday; I think the price is going to be around $38 for a 24x36 print plus S&H. It will be a limited run rolled in a mailing tube. I'm getting them done on the mylar and the lines will be nice n' sharp. |

You've done this with a mouse ???
Why don't you buy a Wacom, it's easier to work with one of those babies, even the smallest ones (and you'll avoid the "hey, my hand looks like a long dead spider" feeling at the end of the day).
Fred
PS : Great news regarding the blueprints ready to go, count me in for 2 !

Yeah, had to. Don't worry though a Wacom is on my list... have my eye on one. And a copy of Corel Painter. |

Hey guys;
Take this image to be a 'sneak-peek' stop-gap until I can work more on the titleblock. There's still tonnes of wording to amend and add. I heard that a close relative had passed away in England, so probably won't be until later in the week until it's more developed.
Thanks.

|

Looking good SJ!
The image is pretty small, so maybe I can't see it... it looks like you cannot see the NARCISSUS and SALMACIS in the front and back shots. Otherwise, looks great!
As a suggestion, would it be feasible to put a very slight mesh or detail behind the Nostromo images (something to break up the "pure white background")? Still thinking something black and white-ish; let me post some suggestions here in a bit...
http://wallpaperstock.net/rocks_wallpapers_14817_1280x800_1.html
Okay, not necessarily exactly like this, but something along the lines of putting a pattern in a very light font just to act as a background to break the monotony, as well as lend a little more towards posting it as artwork in the living room.
Here are a few more:
http://popartmachine.com/blog/grid-patterns-texture-art-study.html
Better still, you could take a Giger background:
http://www.home108.com/mousebranche/wallpapers/Giger.jpg
Again, thinking black and white and decreasing contrast and increasing brightness just to help the Nostromo itself really stand out.
This is extremely crude (using MSpaint on the spare PC):
and one with a darker background:
naturally, the ship and the patches would stand out and be pure black and white. _________________ .

I much prefer the classic blue print look, sorry Monroville. Nice and clean. I also like negative space. If this were to be a graphic for a book cover, then maybe.

Well, it is a good idea indeed, but not the direction I want to take this time around. They'll be alot of stuff to cover the white areas; it's done, just not put in yet. These also won't be on white paper; I'm going with a translucent mylar. Technical prints look ace on it and I'm excited to see how it'll turn out.
Unfortunately there will be a slight delay into finishing it, but a good one, as one of the guys that worked in the ALIEN modelshop has very kindly offered to mark up a set as kind of a final 'critique'. So after that I'll be comfortable that my drafting work will do the ship justice. In the meantime, I'll get on with the NARCISSUS, and I'll post an update of that shortly.
Dennis Lowe has also updated his site with a few new pics which is great to see. Type in the following url to see it.

Yes, I prefer the clean look of a normal blue-print; clearer to read |
