I was reading the thread at the RPF and I clicked on the link Matsuo posted.
When I blew up one of the photos, I saw the trademark above the trigger and it reminded me of the photo Loyalizer posted - it looked very similar to me.
I'm sorry to be the bearer of such news - however, I figured you would want to see Matsuo's post and judge for yourself. |

Nice one! Looks like a really clean casting.
I've got a Marushin 5.7, but the trigger guard is the newer configuration, so I never bothered to convert it. _________________

Thanks Loyalizer - those Marushins sure are nice - hope I can upgrade someday. |

I know that some of the ones Matsuo made were built on an airsoft and some were not.
Mine was not (static prop). |

There was some debate onto whether or not the Offworld was recast from Matsuo's (a common theme it seems whenever a new BSG clamshell comes around).
Here is the thread on the RPF (which was very similar to Matsuo's original thread addressing the MIM recasting):

Heads-up on a Matsuo kit at the RPF:

This is still in kit form, bought it straight from Matt. Kit is untouched. I have an airsoft for the understructure that has been slightly modded, but nothing has been assembled glued or painted. |

Looks like Matsuo is gearing up (or at least testing the waters) for another run of his famous blasters.

Yet another good reason to get over and register at the RPF (by 6/30/09). |

In reference to the original post that blaster is indeed a direct copy of mine. They only did enough mods in order to make it work with an airsoft.
No way enough mods for them to be able to call it an original sculpt. It's obvious whomever did the recasting has some skill but it's misused talent. The same person recast my Equilibrium Cleric pistol as well.
Obviously it's easier to recast than to ask for permission.
The thing is if someone from Offworld MFG would have contacted me I would have considered a collaboration but now there is not a snowballs chance in hell of that happening... Unless that snowball is made of tightly packed $100 bills..

That really sucks, not to mention I feel like I contributed to someone ripping you off. I honestly had no idea it had been recasted, if I had, I certainly wouldn't have dropped a dime on it. _________________

It's ok, I don't sweat stuff like that.
The irony is that my current airsoft version is more accurate and is cheaper.

...I'm a living testimonial to Matt's current blaster....I had purchased one of the Offworld knock offs before KNOWING Matt's work and the difference between them is NOT SUBTLE...I only wish I had it to do over again...I would PREFER having TWO of Matt's product instead of ONE.....MORE of Matt's work is ALWAYS BETTER....
...I have an Offworld Equilibrium which I picked up from an Airsoft store on line...again NOT knowing Matt had made one....and can only imagine what Matt's would look like.....
...my consolation is having two sets of Equilibrium grips for my two Baretta 92's (standard and Stainless) made by Matt in Grey and Black.....thanks again Matt.....
...yea I'm a fan boy but damn you should see the Blaster.....and the grips are amazing.....

Thanks David, Again I don't sweat when people buy the recast stuff I just feel bad because they are paying more actually than what I would charge.
I will eventually do an airsoft EQ gun I just havent gotten around to it.
I can do a few more solid guns but the molds are not going to last forever.
