A really brilliant take on the blaster concept mate. My congratulations!
Besides being a really fine RAC blaster example, your case is a superb piece of BR prop eye-candy.
Cheers for sharing! _________________

.....Thanks. I think the blaster is pretty cool.
My 'nick-name' tag is there in some of the photos. "SPINAR".
On the ready, in case I decide to put it on 'ebay' for sale maybe because of the tougher gun laws here in South Australia. Undecided if I will sell or get the required weapons licence.
Yep, full weapons licence needed plus yearly fee plus locked in a gun safe etc.

The tougher gun laws in Australia are creeping slowly toward the west coast it appears........
...think it will be easier to get a gun licence than for me to move to WA at the moment Staar but good suggestion you had there.
They, (the police) know I have the gun 'cos I was one of the last persons in SA to be issued an import permit for the blaster, or replica gun under the old legislation. |

Thanks joberg and others for your compliments.
I like it too..... wanted a decent BR gun for quite a while.
As Eltee mentioned at the beginning of this thread on Coyle's blaster. "...Rich did all the work....".
Yes, I agree... Rich did all the hard work. I bought a completed blaster from Rich.
I did the easy part.... touched it up a bit, some dismantling, tweeking up and minor improvements, some realignment of parts... pretty easy what I did. I am not much of a model builder, just like doing a bit of work on models.....which is why I usually buy models or statues that are already built for me or completed.
I ordered the HCG Aliens Hero M41A, which is completed as well, so I probably won't have to do anything [or much] to it to suit my taste.... the way I like it.
A Tomenosuke blaster kit or similar "accurate" machined kit would be something I could handle .....kind of fits together easily and not too much work or skill needed to get it to look right.

You did a super nice job on the case, really great....
IF only............
And nice clean up on the Blaster, I may have to see how many want their model Blued...
I get a touch hidebound with doing it just so....
Do hope you get to keep it, but if not we always will have Paris....

Thanks Rich.
The way the gun was originally done by you, in a "pewter patina" finish was excellent
However, I had to re-do the finish because when I worked on the gun, dismantling it etc, I scratched/damaged the steyr receiver surface.
....so I decided to re-finish the whole receiver rather than try to touch it up.
I tried out a Gun Blue creme (G96 brand). Luckily, it came out OK....gives the pewter a blue/grey steel metal look, a bit mottled in part. G96 creme has acids not specifically designed for pewter alloys, but it still gives an interesting finish.
Alternatively, could have used a JAX brand 'Pewter Black' specifically for darkening pewter, which is not readily available in Australia.
The gun barrel is steel and the G96 bluing creme worked very well on it. Sanded-smooth the barrel reducing the fine machined mill-marks first.
