Totally cool and Australian history, man Im soooo jealous.
Did you have to get it converted to LH drive? |
Thanks! And there's no way I'd convert it to LH drive! Fortunately it's not required in the states, at least not in California. usually draws a double take or two at stop lights, once the guy next to you realizes where the driver's sitting.
You guys are really making me want to work on some Mad Max props. Cool stuff. |

Was taking the back road to dads place this morning and i thought it would be cool to take some location pics on the way, the phone died two pics in, but i`ll go back and take some better shots when the costume is done.
Thought it would be interesting to see some comparative shots and it might be fun to start a thread on movie locations you live near.
THEN
NOW

Very cool Tim!
No film locations that i know of near me
One place i would love to visit would be the harbor in La Rochelle, where they filmed Das Boot. |

You make a good point I honestly thought the same thing, about building myself an Interceptor replica when I started the process of purchasing the car, but it's in too good a shape to cut up. I have to say though I'm not familiar with "Junichi" upgrade kits. Is it a reproducer of the Concorde air dams and such? |

The upgrade kit was only for medicom spinners, converted them to a full
version. Was only kidding as it would be cultural vandalism if you changed one thing on that car, looks museum standard. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

I have to agree.
Although the Interceptor is one sweet car, your's is more unique.
Quite a few replica Interceptor's out there now. |

Theres not many V8`s around Neil but you can pick up a 6 cylinder model if you look hard. I think the next Max movie will be set back in Sun City times and the same
model interceptor will be used, just dressed a little differently and that will mean it will be impossible to get one.
If i was gunna go down that path, i would get one of the four door pursuit cars replicated, those models are a dime a dozen and require much less detail, for example a set of identicle Sun mags for the interceptor will run you nearly three grand or more if you can find em, not counting the tyres, can get the whole four door for that price _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

I really like the pursuit cars aswell, even more than the interceptor i think.
Maybe not when they look like this though...
(pictures from IMCDB)
This is probably my favourite movie car though...
(Other than Deckard's that is )
Sorry for going O.T

What a strange coincidence, La Rochelle is my birthplace and i will be there for Xmas vacations !!...
If someone had some shots of the movie i could try to take a few photos of the actual location !... to find the correct angles !
I remember also that a scene of Raiders Of The Lost Ark was shot there too !...in the submarine base _________________ I know what you're thinking...did he fire six shots or only five ?
Well to tell you the truth, in all the excitement i kind of lost track myself... |

That is a coincidence.
I'd love to go there some time.
I made a topic on the RPF not long ago about the conning tower in Das Boot, i think there is a picture there of one of the locations, i'll just check.
EDIT
Here it is.
I've seen a few pictures of the location from a few years ago, would be great to see more if you have any.
Here's the link to the topic i made on the RPF.
http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=74902
Also, i made a fansite for Das Boot not too long ago, i don't usually give out the link (it's only a simple free website) but thought i may aswell share it.
I've also started a small collection of Uboat items.
At the moment i have a couple of commanders autographs (one a print the other real) Also i have a reproduction peak cap and a british denim jacket which uboat crews wore.

Let me know what you think? |

Cool find iron
Great job Neil, your collection and site are both very interesting.
It surely is a very powerful cinema experience.
I think the weapons issue may have been resolved, still have to wait out the result, so ive renamed this thread to cover the variety of great subjects popping up. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

It's funny that on the pics Neil posted (MadMax) the word "Anarchie Road" is in French, rather than "Anarchy" in English |
