My third and for now, final layout.
Fixed the "back door" to the conapt. Always good to have an escape route.
I will add the lobby and entry floor to the full layout. Even adjacent crude layouts, stairs and such.
Ditched the balcony double doors. Added the missing easy chair in the living room. Put in a bedroom door to the master bedroom.
Put down some scale to make the layout readable. Turns out it is spacious... Guess it´s the rough tiles that eat away at the experience. And the large style furniture Deckard keeps.
So long for now.

Agreed on the cave anology Ben. It certainly has that feeling, and it is one of the reasons I was obessesed with it too. I also think it in a way is a physical manifestation of Deckard's subconciousness. Kind of walled away from the world like a hermit, surrounded by art that represents spiritual awakening.

I watched Dangerous Days last night. There they discuss Deckard´s one bedroom flat and the budget they had for it. So, it seems it´s only the one bedroom from my initial layout. According to the film makers...
I might convert the added master bedroom to a corridor with a foyer, thus keeping the second way out. This leaves more space for the apartment next door, too.
There were some good shots from the bedroom and the hallway in the documentary. I will upload snaps along with my new layout when the new things are tweaked.
Yes, the cave like feeling was brought up in the documentary too. But I guess that´s yesterdays news around here.
Cheers! |

The architect Frank Lloyd Wright always designed his house to be like the cave: small entrance with low ceiling and hidden from the street (side or back of the house)then following a type of corridors leading to the fire and the main room, opening a bigger space where the family/tribe gathers...also, in a lot of his houses, the owner can see who's approaching the dwelling without beeing seen by the approacher: friend or foe, touching on very basic human feelings |

I´ve finished one segment of the 97th floor and the first floor lobby for the same segment.
The entire complex should be humongous as it widens at the top. So, for now, segment 30 will have to do.
I´ll be using this in an RPG so what I was going for is some substance to what´s surrounding Deckard´s apartment to flesh it out.
What to do next?
Finish a sketch of the lower ten floors from street view.
The tunnel to the gated parking area for segment 30.
Rough plan for how the entire building is erected.

|
|
Long time past since my last visit. Hi guys!
While setting this up on an L.A. map, I struggle with the sectors. In Whitefall´s map of L.A. he marks four sectors emerging from Police HQ.
In the book, Sebastia´s apt is in sector 9. He also marks the locations of Deckard´s conapt.
I got Whitefall´s permission to use the Tyrell Pyramids map for my pbp-game. I have to create the rest myself...
Has someone done a full L.A. map with all sectors?
