Saw this posted over on RPF but didn't see it here. Adam Savage (famed co-host of Myth Busters) just posted a new video segment where he goes into detail about some of the Blade Runner guns in his collection, including his own real-gun build

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DUULvPJTgk

Sort of a sequel to a video he posted about six months ago, which was focused on two specific resin kit makers and their personal re-interpretations of the gun design.

Karl

TFS Karl...question: Adam doesn't have a Coyle? Or he has and it was in the first vid?

That was pretty awesome. I am glad he finally came out with his connection with sidkit though, so I don't feel like I am holding on to some deep dark secret anymore. Razz He also mixed up the Worldcon reveal with the auction. The Worldcon happened in 2006, and the Tomenosuke guys went to the Profiles in History auction years later. Also for the record the really huge one that had the parts in the wrong places is one that was a recast of the OZ Shop one from the 80's and they originally had the pieces loose, but the directions would have them on the right spots. Someone at one point made a simpler casting with the pieces in the wrong spots and it got copied by Comet Miniatures, and maybe even Marco Enterprises. The original guys that did the research at Oz Shop had them going in the right spot. It was the recasters that never looked at the source material or even the instructions too closely.

All I want to say now is that I really want one of those Rubber stunts. I really do enjoy and totally share his enthusiasm for these guns, including the ugly and cheap ones for the same reasons. He also seems to really love Rick Ross, but who doesn't?

I think Adam showed a Coyle in the first video but I don't remember exactly.

Yeah the rubber stunt Savage is pretty awesome.

I'm sorry, my memory must be bad. Adam's earlier video did not mention Coyle either, it focused on Rick Ross and David Goldberg.

I'm sure there's a reason why the Coyle wasn't mentioned Confused ...but, as of right now, I don't know what's the reason.

At some point Adam points out that he has well over a dozen different Blasters in his collection, so I would't read too much into which ones he included and which ones omitted. The first video was focused on the fantasy versions made by David G and Rick Ross. This new video shows specific models that he has a special affinity for or involvement with, such as two that he himself fabricated.

Adam builds a box for his gun. A really great tutorial and construction of a case and display for Adam's replica.

I also want to thank Rick Ross for giving me the heads up on that video. I may watch it over and over again because it is that inspiring to me.

Just started watching it. I'm looking at everything EXCEPT what he's doing, so I'll have to go back and watch it a million times too. He has a full size Han in carbonite just thrown on top of a shelf in the corner. Hahahaha. Prop guys.

For anybody who likes to know what tools the pro's use to scratch build. Get a note book ready before watching this, and take notes! Adam flies through his equipment quickly, but he's very informative about his equipment and materials.

Personally, Can't wait to order some tru-pan. I hate MDF! Very exciting!! Thanks Adam!!
