|
|
Anybody here remember when I was working on the apartment key card?
Displayed here with my prized Spinner44 wallet set.
Eltee had these printed. I used a pop riveter with an intergrated single hole punch to finish it off.
Hope you like it as much as I do. |

Umm, yes. In fact, I like it SO much, that I was wondering where one might acquire one of them.
wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more! |

Eltee might be by soon. He might have an idea.
If he can't help, I shall make a suggestion. |

Looks great Kevin! Been looking forward to seeing how this turned out
I made one based on a different interpretation. Just need to drill out the holes if I ever get around to it |

Anyone curious about the evolution of this item might want to check out the thread over on PropCircle where I documented the process.
Thanks again for the compliments. |

by the way, what did you do about the back of the card? I've left mine blank, including my vidphon card. My conscience feels better that way |

I've justified a design for the back of the card based on some obscure material and filled in the bottom half with my own design. |

Hey ! I found this on the net, unfortunately the shot isn't hi-res but it gives a look close enough of the screen used keycard

Hi, thanks for the link.
Unfortunately the key pictured doesn't match the one seen on screen.
There's a history to this played out over a long thread on PropCircle so I won't repeat it all here.

And here's the direct link to the start of that thread at PropCircle (6 pages worth of quality reading):

Hope to see them offered in the Prop Shop - soon!
Enjoy...

Way back in the day before there was DVD, I always thought his key card was some kind of etched/embossed metal with a circuit pattern or something like that. Be kind of cool to see the more accurate design replicated on a metal card. _________________

That would be very tasty. An anodized aluminium would feel good as well as look good.
However, for the anally retentive fan, you might have trouble getting it to bend like the one in the film does! |

I remember that thread well. It came around about the same time I got into these forums. I had thought you had abandoned the project after the Chip Wallace ebay scandal. |

Have you ever seen an 'eraser shield'?
It's a paper-thin piece of steel, about the size of a credit card, riddled with a bunch of odd holes.
Might be a good start for a custom apartment card.

Lol I haven't seen one of those since I took mechanical drawing in high school. Now I have to go dig through my old box of analog drawing tools. _________________
