I'd have to say it's kinda wasted on orycon: you can't even carry your *FAKE* gun there. You guys gonna take your act to any other cons?
Actually , we oughta have BR meets at other cons...Get that guy with the VK to bring it. We could take turns putting the machine on 'people'. _________________ Sushi...That's what my wife used to call me: cold fish. |

We had a BLAST at OryCon...I think it was because they had a Pirate theme going and we were among a VERY FEW that dressed up Sci/Fi and the ONLY ones dressed BR...we were invited up to the "Author's Floor" at the very top of the Hotel within two hours of being at the event...pretty cool! |

Rather odd for a 'science fiction' convention, that.
On the other hand, there is something to be said for being a big frog in a small pond.... _________________ Sushi...That's what my wife used to call me: cold fish. |

A hAh! The answer is, I MADE it!
At the RPF, somebody mentioned that you could buy fabric you could put through an inkjet printer. So, that is literally the actual tie pattern, photoshopped from posted photos of the actual tie, printed onto printable fabric and then sewn together.
it came out a bit lighter than I though it looked in the film....but then, the photo of the original shirt looked a lot lighter than the film. So, you make your best guess...
I was hoping somebody would ask about the tie, I thought I was terribly clever to come up with that. |
Hadn't looked at this thread for a bit.
Very cool! Printing right onto fabric. . . that's bizarre. Do you need a special kind of printer to do that? _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing. . . |

Just in case no one mentioned it yet, the shirts all seem to be based on western wear cuts. The result is the saddle style point in the back of the shirts. I think this is visible on Disc 4.

Thanks.
I must have missed that one-liner when scrolling.
BTW, the printer fabric:

The site warns that this is a type of material which cannot be washed or cleaned and is meant for temporary use. |

I think that was Indy Magnoli who was doing the tie. The last I heard, he wasn't happy with the 2nd prototype he received,
so he was having a 3rd one made.
But that was a while back. _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing. . . |

LOL. . . no haven't used your suggestion yet.
It's been on display in my prop room since that night I picked my wife up from the airport. Hasn't really been cold enough anymore to wear it anywhere. Guess winter's over in AZ.
But fall will be here soon enough! _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing. . . |

you have a prop room??? I'm jealous! of course, I'm still getting used to my spiffy new studio so I guess I'll have to wait at least before I start complaining that I need a new room.
suppose we can turn the attic into a prop room. _________________ Is this testing whether I'm a Replicant or a lesbian, Mr. Deckard? |

Well, my prop room is mostly disassembled now. . . getting ready to move in about 3 weeks. The Air Force is sending me to South Korea for a year, and my wife will be relocating to my "follow on" assignment, which is to Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.
So all of my stuff will get shipped to VA and pretty much stay in boxes in our new place till I get back in June of '09.
Here's the main portion of the collection though. You can see the shadow box I made for my BR blasters on the left side of the pic.
They will ship up to 500 pounds of unaccompanied baggage over to Korea, most of which will be clothes and things, but I'm taking some sci-fi things with me, too! I'll definitely be taking the trench and my Coyle blaster to represent BR, and several Star Wars props, too.
Have to have some toys over there! _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing. . . |

LOL. . . yes, it's definitely become more of a shrine than a collection.
Paul, good eye on the ID badge! But actually, it's not the one you're talking about. It's one I got from another Propsummit member in a trade a few months back.
Here's a closer pic of the BR shadow box. The blasters are my Coyle v4.x, repainted to look closer to the WorldCon example, and a Rick Ross Snubbie, also painted to match.
Since that pic was taken I've added a couple of small items; Toothtech's excellent snake scale, and a nice blue-ringed shot glass from Spinner44. _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing. . . |

that is freaking AWESOME!!!!!
there should be a soundtrack that is triggered when you walk in the room. something like angels singing and pulse blasters in the background. _________________ Is this testing whether I'm a Replicant or a lesbian, Mr. Deckard? |
